When it gets dark, you've got to stive to find the light.

Darkness

Is this what depression feels like all black with no light?
No answers for my questions, no ending in sight.
How can people stand this, how can they survive?
When the only feeling is obscurity, nothing left of pride.

The feeling of irrelevance and insignificance are overwhelming me.
I wanted to make a difference in this world, not have this ambiguity.
Nothing at all seems clear not even how this came to be,
Swallowed up in this darkness, blinded by iniquity.

How do I go on and find the light I seek?
How can I survive, when everything looks so bleak?
I must search my soul for the faith that was once inside.
For it could be my salvation, the resurrection of my pride.

Once you are God’s child, he will never set you free.
He is always right there with you, throughout eternity.
So look to him for guidance, it’s God who holds the light.
He will carry you from the darkness and your days will soon be bright.

When depression strikes, I have found the Bible helps greatly. Sometimes it takes a while before I give in and get out my Bible; it's like I need a cue card to remind me. But then reading what God says reminds me of how He loves me and gives me courage to go on.
"Run to Jesus" is advice I once read, and I agree, because He is waiting for us to run into His arms and let Him love and comfort us.
I especially like Hebrews 12:1-14.

Yes, depression is horror at its best. Yes, God is there but in the blackest pits of depression it is even hard to find him so consumed with the pain at the time. Excellent write. Liz

Darkness only stays for a while, especially when you have your loving Savior to guide you. Sunny days will be here sooner than you think. Praying for you and hoping your pains are not too bad. Depression is hard to fight but I fight it every day and every hour and almost every minutes to0.
