No Idea What He’d Done!
On his eighteenth birthday, Ed decided he didn’t want a fuss,
So he got up real early and boarded a greyhound bus.
Getting off in a nearby town, he headed for the theater.
He was meeting a friend there, and nothing could be sweeter.
For his friend was Jasmine, hearing her name made his heart sing.
He has loved Jasmine for many years, even gave her a friendship ring.
They mutually met as small children in a park where they resided.
They had tender hearts; both enjoyed each other and both were delighted.
Jasmine’s parents quickly moved away and his heart almost broke.
He couldn’t see his life without her; it was one of life’s cruel jokes.
He eventually found out that Jasmine didn’t move all that far.
In fact, he could be there in nearly two hours, if he had a car.
He was shortly getting his car and next week they made plans.
He was taking her to dinner after that off to see her favorite bands.
Each of them was so excited and they could hardly wait.
That’s why they were meeting today to get there stories straight.
You see, Jasmine wasn’t allowed to date especially someone like Ed.
His mother was a well-known prostitute and Ed’s real father was dead.
Her parents forbid her to see Ed again, but her heart kept saying no.
So off she went to meet her Ed, at the nearest picture show.
The weekend finally came and Ed was driving to get his love.
When the accident happened, it was quick like lightning from above.
Ed was killed instantly and next to his body laid a beautiful pearl ring.
It was a gift for Jasmine, a pledge to her and what that pledge will bring.
Jasmine arrived early and waited patiently for hours on end,
She knew something must have happened, this wasn’t like her friend.
She loved Ed with all her heart and she has since she was small.
He brought excitement and joy to her life, in fact, he brought it all.
She heard the news late that night about a young man in a crash.
She knew instantly it was Ed and flew to her bedroom in a dismal dash.
She was just about to cut her wrist when she felt a gentle touch.
She knew it was Ed caressing her, for she loved him so much.
He whispered softly in her ear, my darling, live your life for me.
For someday in the future we’ll be together, I promise you will see.
My short life has ended needlessly, but yours has just begun.
So my darling, live for me and make it one passionate run.
She was so determined to do everything Ed had said.
He was the last thing she thought of, when she went to bed.
Her parents still disliked him even after they knew he was gone.
They never knew he saved Jasmine’s life, had no idea what he’d done.
