Little Billy, the Wild Child

The most adorable thing to me is to see a little boy with spirit and gusto one you can't help love but also scared to death because of his antics. What joys little boys are.

Little Billy, the Wild Child

Little Billy was a wild child who seemed to find where troubles lie.
No matter how many promises to Mom he makes no matter how hard he tries.
There he is in the middle of a mess, it doesn’t matter if its home or out.
Where trouble is or messes start it seems it gives wild Billy a shout.

Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is apropos for Billy.
How can one dear little boy get in so many pickles so ridiculous and silly?
If a fight broke out you could bet you life Billy would be in between.
Billy somehow being accused & fully responsible for the entire scene.

He looks so innocent and angelic when he’s fast asleep in bed.
It’s only when he’s awake, he gets the crazy notions in his head.
All you can do is pray and love him in hopes he soon will learn.
That if you play with matches, you will definitely get burned.

Last Sunday I saw little Billy in church sitting in the pew in the front seat.
I held my breath through the entire service expecting an unpretentious treat.
But there he sat as good and quiet as a little church mouse in his pew.
With folded hands, he bowed his head and Little Billy was born anew.

a little lad that turned over a new leaf -- probably doesn't have near the fun he used to -- there's a touch of Huck Finn in here -- peace to you Bonnie -- JMW

Great poem. Sounds a little like my son except he asks up pretty much any where he's expected to be still.
