He'll Be Remembered
I idolized him as a very young child,
The feelings I felt were more than just mild.
He was my knight and my shining star,
To find my hero I didn't have to look far.
With his sense of humor he was popular too,
Everyone loved him, so would have you.
The feeling he gave you was tremendous joy.
So special was he, an extraordinary boy.
Each time he left a room or entered,
Everyone noticed for he was the center.
He'd put his mind to something, followed it through,
And in the process, he'd take you along too.
He was my hero and I was so proud to be,
His little sister, yep that was me.
If I'd disappoint him I felt so distressed,
But he always forgave me 'cause he was the BEST.
I would do anything to bring that grin to his face,
For in my heart, he couldn't be replaced.
His smile would warm a spot deep down inside,
And I'd smile back, bursting with pride.
No one could ever make me feel,
The way he did, and never will.
He had such energy and was full of dreams,
The achievements he made were most extreme.
My hero made it to the top and achieved success,
It was remarkable, but he was the best.
Then one day it ended with a tremendous shock,
His body was found beneath a tree, in dirt and rock.
He was shot from behind by someone he knew,
Because at the end, his close friends were few.
The killer did more than killing just him,
He killed part of us and our future looks grim.
I saw the pain in his children's eyes,
They loved him more than the earth and skies.
How lucky they were to call this man dad,
But that's the more reason they feel so bad.
His son reminds us so much of his father,
He's a super young man, never a bother.
Watching his daughter trying to keep him alive,
Makes us all wonder if we'll all survive.
Are we ever going to forget and be the same?
There's a lump in my throat at the sound of his name.
Who could have done such an awful thing?
And what will the future someday bring?
Only God knows the answers we need,
Someday we'll know too, for this I plead.
We'll always remember him, who could forget,
All the good things we shared, of this you can bet.
His memory will stay in our hearts each day.
He'll be remembered every time we pray.
No one will ever fill his place,
There's no one that can, in this whole human race.
Where do you go when your hero is gone?
We'll ask ourselves that, our whole life long.
