The child would not sit still in class.
‘Failed to complete assigned task.’
All the young’un ever did was draw
or stare out the window,like he thought
he saw through the mountain to Florence.
Uncanny at maths, turned out.
What a shame he was doomed to flail
through life {One pictures Einstein
wearing Dunce.  Other drummers
with genius IQ’s and little tolerance
for `1-plus-1-a-b-c.}  Oh the danger
of a refocusing mind.   Leonardo?
They should put that fellow away
before he kills himself with gimcrack
number x or attempts to fly
over Vinci, or we die laughing.
at his scrawl.  Muttering obsession
with the beak of a kite or breast-
like peak or how to gauge the squareness
of a hand.    So he made something
of himself.   Few paintings, sculpture
hither’n’ yon. {Born out of wedlock, psst-
psst.}   You know his father left him out
of the will.    Just applied himself
at school, think what he could have been.
Ow, well.  Just another rustic.  
Bumpkin, loony-tune.  You don’t think
he  died cradled by King Francis-?
Myth, that’s what I thought.
