I love his eyes -not only the hazel innocence That I swooned over when we first met But their ability to peel the world Layer by layer Like a tangerine Clawing and peeling the tough outer skin, Breathing in the fragrant oils from it’s pores And separating the wrapped segments He examines them… ‘What blood flows through these veins?’ He wonders Before removing each foggy veil Revealing the world’s nakedness Wet with vulnerability The juices run down his tidy fingers
