As the multi-guised flowers of the living sprout to life, should we not allow the paradox of life and death remind us there may not be much growth of any kind without the compost of passing?

Enigmas
by Odin Roark
What of Those…
from childhood to adulthood,
including the determined to reverse engineer adolescence,
hoping for delusional youthdom
to sustain who they are,
perhaps forgetting
there comes a time
when the death
of ideals,
of virtues,
of dreams,
need pass onto their next iteration.
What of That…
which serves as tools and nourishment
for the rational beings
to use and abuse,
to fend and consume,
to eventually exhaust and cast aside .
What of It…
that heart of all that makes possible Those and That,
the It we sometimes call
the spirit,
the inner being,
man’s sentient core.
Is not this essence of then,
now, and tomorrow
entitled to restart?
And yet…
so much of mankind lords over
some supernatural prerogative,
convinced of…
Meanwhile,
with inherent wisdom,
the spring flower nods to the sun,
to the rain,
to the hand about to pick it.
well done
I'm amazed at how much I don't know and how much I learn every day. Recently, I found out that salmon that make their ritualistic return to their birthplace to spawn fertilize much of the forest hundreds of miles inland from the ocean by their bodies being eaten and carried far from the streams they inhabit. It only takes two salmon, a male and female out of thousands to make it to the spawning point and release thousands of fertilized eggs for the next generation. The rest become a source of nutrients enriching the forest and its inhabitants.
