Hateophobia

Islamophobia,
like a creeping vine of strangulation,
reduces sentient Americans to beasts of prey,
allowing both the nocturnal and diurnal predators
of all hate cults to take aim and…
Soon, there will be but hateophobia,
an infestation of fascist mongering,
a pandemic infection
of humanity’s most feared disease.
Yet…
Here are some of us,
holding desperately to reason and principle,
survivors trying to avoid becoming
mere mud on the shoes of the Trumpeters,
those pompous dance lines of ignorance,
lifting legs high, following in lock step
across the can’t-get-a-life stage,
salivating for global annihilation
of all who disagree.
As applause rings out,
as fearful cheers overwhelm all our sensibility,
rendering right and wrong distinction as sacrilege,
empowering further the demagogic control,
where thumbs up and glad-handing the losers
into their sense of victory becomes as American as apple pie,
will we ever take a stance,
halt such unadulterated single-cell behavior,
and call it for what it is: evolutionary regurgitation and waste?

Do these fearful, withdrawn haters really believe that they are superior to all others… To the French, the English, the Scandinavians from whose immigrant stock they were spawned? I doubt it. They are nothing but followers.
If I had been a citizen of Germany in the 1930s and heard one of those speeches that so many Germans hailed as the truth, I would have probably defected to England or the United States or served time in one of the concentration camps reserved for nonbelievers in the thousand year reign of the Third Reich.
I am primarily of German heritage. My family did not side with the Germans or the American Nazis in World War I or II. Three of my uncles served in World War II.
As citizens of the United States, we should uphold our Constitution… "We the people…" And not succumb to ideologies that use the Constitution for their dark purposes.
