As the supposed superior life of the planet, we’ve a long way to go in accepting and respecting the reality: we are but “Nature’s guests.” (Image by Leena Colibri)

Cosmic Sadness
Mountains and sea
will coalesce indefinitely,
accepting they are stone and water,
erosion and weather,
yin and yang.
Oceans don’t complain.
They tide high or low.
Pressure released.
Mountains accept weakness
but they suck it up,
hold their strength tight,
occasionally direct some offspring
to the valley floor without resentment or regret,
clinging not to a bad mood
because they might not represent the highest peaks.
Nature doesn’t long to be something it’s not.
Sea = water.
Stones = rock.
Sun up.
Sun down.
Just being.
No enhancement needed.
None at all.
Now humans…
Nature doesn’t take well to our “Me, Me, Me.”
Can we learn the lesson here,
or will we continue to wear thin our visitation privilege?
And your poetry which says, "Why me, me, me," all the time is very appropriate for the situation we are in. So dependent upon this planet and with no Star Trek or Star Wars easy solutions right around the corner. The cosmos is vast and lonely. We won't find a better place than this and have to stop dreaming about heaven after we are gone. Make something of this life that is worthwhile and positive.
