This journey beyond ocean
Where prickly pears gaze fondly
Our careful approach

You watched…

As I connected
Felines purr to sunlight's ray
Ever mindful danger comes in daylight
As well

You followed…

The auto crash
The rolling instants became hours
The dust of salient messages premature
All before the quiet

You remained…

A wistful escort as I climbed

Over the pock marked coldness
The ancient echoes whispering recital
Some of joy
Many of sorrow
All part of yesterday’s sundial
Moving toward tomorrow

Still…

How vigilant your sentinels
Where light may be dimming
When some might pull the covers
High across eyes that refuse to accept
While a smile stays fixed
Upon my door
Forever open


I gaze…

As air floats endless mantras
Rendering wings of my enigmatic butterfly motionless

A magic carpet of weightlessness
Sustains us both
While iteration’s foreshadow

Remains arrested

For the moment
