Code never lies.
But what of another code?
Is love a code that knows not to lie?

Parent and child know.
Johnny Cash and June Carter,
John Adams and Abigail Adams,
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert,
All know of love’s reality.
For many,
Lies are king today.
Fake love.
Fake business.
Fake life.
River burial for unwanted kittens in a gunnysack.
Money pledged institutionally
In place of a child’s success
In achieving university acceptance.
Scam schemes to get rich.
Marriage for wealth, not love.
Will and testaments to retain smiles from a benefactor.
Perhaps…
Honesty lost its way?

I don't think the dark side is winning as you seem to suggest. As far as media outlets of all kinds, and especially, social media, it is always the absurd or sensational that gets the most airtime for commercials and ratings. So we hear the worst first, while the good gets ignored because it's too normal and too boring for the average jaded news follower to pay any attention to.
I think the good are getting better at fighting the dark side every year. We just don't hear about it. Crime cases are being solved more justly and quicker, even though personnel to get it done may be lacking. The technology that brings us safer and better times is everywhere working tirelessly to lift us up, not tear us down.
