Beyond

Nocturnal travel often takes one through a fantasy into a lucid mindset. Such excursions often reveal how one truly wants his or her reality to be.

Beyond

Beyond is…

To sleep,

To dream,

To reach,

To touch the unknown.

Such lucid fantasies

Carry malleable fodder for reality’s needs.

To be part of the horizon,

The endless sea,

The cusp of oceans and rivers,

Of tributaries forged by melted experience,

Of a flower’s once velvet bloom and leaf,

Now of petrification.

The light and dark

Bringing the universe

And all that is in it,

The Yin and Yang

As rose and stem,

Of petal and thorn,

Of joy,

Of pain.

Life’s labyrinth…

Is both complex and generous,

Allowing both to nomadize existence

Into indispensable lessons of survival.

For, just as the circuitous journey of Nature,

From becoming a river,

Becoming an ocean,

Becoming creation’s rain clouds,

So too will droplets of endless evolution

Start mortality’s next iteration,

Will remind us once again of life’s dream-like

Fantasy,

Reality…

Its paradox.

Borrowing Richard’s “…they just point their creative noses wherever..” I read this and perceive your nose was pointed squarely upon this sublime painting and what you wrote felt like you WERE the artist who followed the arteries, the tendons, neurons and pulses of what happened into this image. Even as surpriseful as this piece of art is, your words that meld with what you see here bring the color, light, texture and life out of the painting and into the present moment. This happens with the two words: “melted experience” and “nomadize existence”. I like that “Life’s labyrinth…Is both complex and generous,”. That concept is medicinal for me, a nugget to remind me that surprises can happen ‘both’ ways. The skill with which you expressed feelings about this beautiful artwork . . . Wow! ~~ djl

You had me with the painting.
And then you blew my mind with your fantasies and paradoxes.
Right when I thought I had you figured out...

Perhaps the whole process could be likened to a debate, that could well derive self-contradictory conclusions by valid deduction from acceptable premises. I suppose [certain] poet/writers could be likened to nomads of sorts. With no desire to arrive anywhere in particular, they just point their creative noses wherever... towards some star, or some notion, or some intellectual tickle, and they take the journey where ere it goes. Food for thought. Thanks for sharing. r

I find the dreams do take me beyond reality many times. A good source of short stories. I believe that dreaming well results in a firm grip on reality during everyday life. Letting dreams hammer out the paradoxes we all face in trying to live our lives.

Strangely, I had a really interesting dream last night. But this morning when I tried to conjure up what it was about, I couldn't. Perhaps the dream was too good to be true.

"To nomadize existence" - love that turn of phrase. Never thought of that before, but feel like that sometimes, more even in wakeful rather than nocturnal dreams. Interesting write.
