The Kingston Trio

Poem Artwork

Somewhere Between Country and Blue Grass

There’s a playful little genre

Out there among the sticks

That once you hear it

Man o man

It gives your heart a fix.

It’s catchy crazy and full of fun

And sets your mind a whirl

It captures your heart and grabs your soul

And even makes your

Long hair curl.

And nobody did it better

On TV stage or radio

Than a home grown threesome

Known far and wide

As the singing

Kingston trio.

Guitar pickin’ folk singers

That could set the house on fire

From Tom Dooley

To the wide Missouri

They could inspire

Like a country choir.

If you’re a product of the 50s

Like many of us are

You’ll remember every

Word they sang

From here to

Zanzibar.

I seem to remember being stuck on the MTA… or was that BART… or MARTA… Who knew. Spawned a whole bunch of imitators, but a genuine yokel bunch of folk.
