Discovery
What if we stopped being perpetual judges
who leap to conclusions about everything
pigeon holing every sight and sound
into its place
so that it accords with our beliefs
confirming truths
given to us by others?
Instead ...
suppose we took the time
to examine for ourselves
the what and the why
and the how of what is
and not somebody else's notion of
what ought to be?
Might we be surprised
to find that many old answers
do not stand up under
the scrutiny of
critical review?
What if we each
tried to discover
what really surrounds us?
Would we see what our eyes
tell us hear what our ears
perceive?
Might we synthesize more
conclude less and
hold some judgments at bay?
Would this thing called
life reveal her secrets
and help us understand
more? And might
we become better
custodians and
protectors of life in
all its forms on this planet
we call home?
If we could truly love one another and have more respect for the planet, there would be little to judge or nothing at all! Thank you Edward for profound reflection, a great write! Peace!!!
Very good thoughts, very good views but we all understand that human beings basically are more and more bothered about one's selfish needs especially in today's world of instant gratification. Let us compare our lives to the earlier times,say hundred years back, we have so much more but does it make us better persons than the earlier lot, that dear friend is the issue- roseline
