Just 238 years ago a gifted poet
Penned these words:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident
That all men are created equal…”
Words to be cherished
For all time
Even at the cost of
“Our lives
Our fortunes and
Our sacred honor.”
Today we pledge
Allegiance to our flag
But do we still honor
Our founding principles?
Where are “life
Liberty and
The pursuit of happiness”
In our national dialogue?
Where is the solemnity
Of our intentions
The glory of our
Connections
And the duty
To safeguard
Our heritage?
Is independence an idea
For all time
Or just a memory whose
Day has passed?

faith...suggesting...the protection of freedom by exercising it!

Independence, as described by those crying "liberty" (from government) seems to be liberally trying to be more unequal than others in a dog eat dog fashion that is tearing our country apart in the chasm between. All those with conservative values would do well to read carefully their honored Declaration and Constitution and see if they are living up to the principles inscribed by those who wished to abolish governments not by and for the people, but by wealth and power.
Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
Deputy Dave Jenkins investigates the murder of local high school principal, Jerry Egge, but this is a multi-faceted novel that deals with spiritualism, romance, friendship, and children who fall through the cracks.
