Pi Day

Saturday March 14th is Pi Day
It’s a special celebration of that
Famous ratio pi = c/d
The day when round heads
Reign supreme over square heads
Well, that’s actually every day.
Some pizza joints are reducing
Their pies by $3.14
Undertakers are giving away
Pi in the sky when you die
(It’s a lie!)
The National Museum of Mathematics
Is giving attendees free pie and hot chocolate
At precisely 3.14.15.9.26 (9:26 PM)
Princeton is holding a Pi-rade and
An Einstein look-alike contest
Soupy Sales is coming back to
Slap a pie in the face of all losers
Don McLean is driving his Chevy
To the levee even if it’s dry
He’s dying to see Ms. American Pie
Garrison Keillor is singing
Hey Bob a-Reebob Rhubarb Pie
Georgia good ol’ boys are
Downing lots of Georgia Peach Pie
Hawaiians are eating Coconut Custard Pie
Even Isaac Newton loved his apple pie
How much is a red neck worth?
An RC Cola and a Moon Pie.
Mathematician: Pi r square
Red Neck: No pie are round, corn bread are square.
Time flies like an arrow but
Fruit flies like a banana.
What has that got to do with pies?
I dunno, ask Groucho.
Dad: What’s the difference between a hooker and apple pie?
Son: I dunno. What is the difference?
Dad: You’re grounded for 6 months.

We are Americans are almost catching up with Indians in our desire to celebrate any and everything that comes along. I think I'll start hangover day right after St. Patty's.

My mother was always able to cut a pie precisely so that every piece was exactly the same size… She was damn near a mathematician!

Thoroughly enjoying your humor with this one… Very creative and full of interesting references.

May you pi's have even slices.
May you have your pi in the sky.
This poem is a clever write,
A real cutie pi.

Great...inventive...and really joyful poem to celebrate this one-in-100-years event with scientists-mathematicians-economists around the world...Both...your poem and the celebration day...raise the public awareness of science...and it's also the birthday of Albert Einstein...and good excuse to enjoy a delicious pie from our local bakery shop...
Happy International Pi Approximation Day!
Happy Birthday to Albert Einstein!

My mother made wonderful apple pies. Apple and Cinnamon pie with real cinnamon not that cassia junk that Americans use. Her speciality was Bramley apple and clove pie with a touch of nutmeg and lemon.
The pastry contained real farm house butter, sugar, honey, a pinch of salt, an egg yolk( she used the white for glazing the top) plain non raising flour, a splash of milk, then mixed all by hand adding a touch of water until it was to her liking .
At harvest time she would often make a dozen, you should have seen those disappear. We had no shortage of volunteers at harvest time
