 Trust

“This above all: to thine own self be true ; and it must follow, as the night the day,
thou canst not then be false to any man
.” --Shakespeare (in Hamlet).

It’s about character
And reliability and honor.
It’s the most cherished human trait
Even greater than love itself although
not as enjoyable nor as
stimulating.

Trust levels the playing field and
makes forgiving a lot easier.

Just by knowing that you are a man or a
woman whose actions are
dependable and honest and caring
means that you have values that
precede your actions and they define who
and what you are.

Always.

Trust means that you have considered
all the other traits and you have
put your honor your integrity and your
actions into a single word that surpasses
them all.

It's the gold standard that makes
you true to yourself.

But trust has a price you must be
willing to pay--
You must never bow down to
it’s impostor not for
gold privilege position or power.
Never sell your soul by
putting loyalty over trust.

HI, E. D., THIS IS MY PERSONAL OPINION, OF COURSE. (THANK GOD IN THIS NECK OF THE WOODS, AS OPPOSED TO A LARGE PART OF OUR NATION, I AM STILL ALLOWED TO DISAGREE, SPEAK AND NOT GET PERSECUTED FOR IT). THAT SAID...WE AS HUMANS CANNOT TRUST OURSELVES, I DON'T CARE HOW STRONG OUR CHARACTERS OR HOW WELL BRED WE ARE. FOR...IN SPITE OF ALL OUR GOOD EFFORTS...WE WILL STILL COME SO SHORT. HOWEVER, TO 'TRUST' IS, INDEED THE ANSWER BUT TO TRUST 'IN GOD'...THIS IS THE ANSWER. THE WORDS SAYS...IN ALL OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, WE ARE AS FILTHY RAGS. MEANING...ALL DO ERR AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD. SO, FROM 'HIM' COMES THE STRENGTH OF BE 'LOYAL'...YES, AND WE GET THE CREDIT FOR 'TRYING'. BUT, AS I SAID, SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE...WE WILL ERR. BECAUSE WE ARE HUMAN AND 'NOT PERFECT'. THIS MAKES ME APPRECIATE THE SO NEEDED LOVE OF CALVARY AND THE PRICE THAT WAS PAID FOR...REPENTENCE. 'HE' KNEW WE WOULD NEED IT E.D. THUS, WHEN WE COME SHORT, IT IS NOT THE END OF WORLD AND WE DON'T HAVE TO 'BEAT OURSELVES UP' WITH GUILT. WE APOLOGIZE, REPENT AND PRESS-ON. THANKS FOR SHARING, ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

So well said. I have found that loyalty is a dangerous path to take. I am loyal only to myself. And allow trust to determine by every decision, right or wrong. More often right than wrong.

A most salient poem for these troubled times, an era that exhibits so little trust in what was one highly respected institutions, not to mention our leadership. To me, it's all a "sign of the times". Something we have somehow earned and cannot avoid. Love your final verse, most apt and true.

Synergism at work. I, too, have dwelt on this principle of late, and your take on it allows me to rest a bit, knowing I'm in pretty good shape in that area. Your last line is so pertinent to our present state.
