Politics and Free Will

These are difficult times
When our choices are limited when
our voices are scorned and blunted
and infamy pervades the land.
Still we know ignorance when we hear it
see it and awaken our minds to it.

Challenge my freedom and you
challenge me.
Limit my freedom and you
awaken the warrior in me.
Take my freedom and you steal from
the greater pool that is of, by, and
for humanity.

Life is about choices.
Some are routine while others are not.
If we believe in purpose the most difficult
choices are also those that challenge us
to think, to reach beyond ourselves
to find answers that can stand the test of
time and the good that we can do.

We dare not hide behind convention and
choose what others want or expect.
We are individuals in a common cause
And that is to keep faith with all those
on the road to enlightenment.

We dare not fear what surfaces from the
depths of hell or floods the highway leading to it,
Or what follows from their false gods.
We cannot choose to always be right
But we can choose to reject that which is wrong.
And we must always fight to preserve the difference.
