Fear v. Courage
Ah, but a man’s reach should exceed his grasp,
or what’s a heaven for? --Robert Browning
Life is not about searching for mountains of wealth
We need no shining star to bring us comfort or health.
Life begins by soaring with eagles for fun
And greeting others in search of their place in the sun.
It’s about taking risks with a controlled anxiety
And turning over that last stone for our own curiosity.
Life is for the strong, the calm and the brave
And those who take chances not those who just rave
It’s for those who put trust high on their list of needs
Not loyalty to an ideology full of misguided deeds.
When days are dark and times are tough
And the winds and the rain blow hard
That’s the time to stiffen your resolve a bit
There’s always more to put you on guard
They say to the victor go the spoils
But we were never in it for treasure
We stood our ground without pomp or circumstance
When to finish was such a pure pleasure.
Free to choose is more than mere words
That carry a very high price
They mean to look danger in the eye
Whatever the sacrifice.
There's very little that I am afraid of. But when I am afraid I can tell because my spine will tell me that it's time for flight… I never will win a fight. But I have a plan… Ram 'em in the shin with your wheelchair foot rest like a tank and they may fall on you swinging while they go down in pain.
But if balancing on the edge with me in the wheelchair I am tied in, tottering, just relax and let me either fall or stay there on the edge until someone comes along to save me.
