Maybe it was the rain,
that brought in these hard times.
Shaking off these blues
so I can get back to me and you,
I see us dancing in the sun.
I can feel your every move.
I stumbled into your life,
like a child at his first dance.
Explaining, ever so elegantly,
how I felt, trying not to overwhelm you.
Your eyes look into me,
pushing me forward.
I can’t fall down.
I look behind me and you are there.
Have the dark shadows worn you down my love?
The fear is all around,
attacks hitting from all sides.
I fight them off in the silence.
I pull you close to me,
for without you I would so easily crumble
the voice of doubt brings on these fears.
I still feel the pain when you are not near.
When the lights are out,
and a blanket of stars lies high above us,
having you all to myself,
I find the peace to sleep.
