Previously in the bath and body life of myself, I used a small tube of body wash as hand cream. We all remember how funny that was as for not reading the label caused me to be sticky on 2 occasions and by the third use, I had read the label, discovered my error and headed directly to the shower pre-soaped and ready to go. Ha hahahahahahaha :)
This Christmas I was given a wonderful set of bath gifts from LUSH brand. Again having no instructions I was duped by my own blissful ignorance. I thought it odd that a soap would be in a metal tin as things are WET in the shower! I forgot to take it in with me for several times and so I moved it to the bath intending to use it the very next shower. So..as I was happily showering I remembered that I had moved the bar into the bath so, dripping wet, I reached to get it. It smelled wonderful, but looked odd as there were some kind of embe dded seeds in my luxurious new bath bar. I was tickled thinking how blessed I was to have such a wonderful daughter who introduced the way to a new dimension by giving me such a lovely and thoughtful gift. I was still rather leery of the metal being in the wetness of the shower.
Excitedly, I opened the tin and removed the fancy (seeded) soap bar ready to participate in my adventure of trying a new product. I got the bar in my hands and thought: this is kinda oily feeling ( I think I may have even said this out loud) I rubbed my arms first with the seedy side and it smelled delish..so I continued, even though seeds were falling. I was, by now, convinced, this was some kind of wonderful experience meant just for me...oh yeah I have to been so blessed with my own "special" brand of humor that I could internally chuckle as I used my bar of the future. When it did not lather, I was not surprised as my thought was: this product must be really full of lanolin and therefore would make my old ( and dry) skin fabulously moisturized. As I continued application to my legs I became suspicious and it was then that my doubts became reality. By this time I was greasy, the shower was filling with an oily film and water was beading up on my skin. I nearly dropped the hand held shower due to those mounting conditions. I decided I should probably switch to my regular body wash (as per usual) and I vowed to look up online
LUSH brand to settle the matter. I was internally entertained as I remembered the first debacle with bath products. I knew by now it must be some kind of cocoa butter or some such thing to use AFTER the shower. Amused, I realized I would soon learn that I had created another chapter in my personal book of bath humor.
I smiled all the way to my computer and as I brought up
LUSH.COM, I knew full well I would find that this was not soap...but what it was, was still a mystery. I asked myself: "was it some kind of product to use AFTER the shower to smooth and soften old skin?" By this time, of course, my skin was tingling with a penetrating heat. The product was not found under the
BATH heading of
LUSH.COM, nor
BODY BUTTER...and so I continued my search. This tin had no name other than the LUSH brand so I had to search by sight. Finally finding it in the
MASSAGE area..everything became perfectly clear... I am just an old hippie trying to adjust AND I just don't "get" the 21st century and all it's wondrous offerings...most especially : bath items.
As I sit here with my warm tingling skin thinking about the events of the morning I must say I appreciate my child like innocence of things yet to be discovered. I am grateful for the knowledge of the new (in spite of always having to learn the hard way) I am happy to share my new found wisdom with my daughters about how life will be, someday, when they are my age. It can be fun and funny or a horrible horror. I choose fun and I am so grateful for the journey...although I am beginning to wonder if the universe purposely chose me to prove, once again, that: There is no fool like an old fool. I know better, but my life is all the richer for my personal perspectives and the curious road upon which I travel.
