Just a short fiction about a Goat and a Sheep. Feel free to read and comment, reading keeps the mind at work.

This is about a Goat and a Sheep of some years ago. The Goat’s name was Tallboy and the Sheep’s name was Spigot. Well, on a certain day, they were caught up into a heavy argument, which was really silly, as neither of them could change their situation. As a result, day after day the argument prolongs; until one rainy day, in a little shelter, where Tallboy asked Spigot a question. The question was about his soft coat. Hearing the question, Spigot was quite puzzled. Hence he begins to think, within himself, he says: oh, so that may be it, of course that could be it. Again, he said to himself, but if that’s it, why should it be?

I can’t help that, it’s not my fault, and neither can him, the Tallboy, does anything about it. How I can answer him? This question is hard. Whilst he still wonders! Pretending he didn’t hear the question; seeing that, he was still pondering for the right answer. While, Tallboy, he was in a rush, for an answer to his question. He then thought to himself this sheep, might’ve just as dumb as he is deaf. Nonetheless, Spigot, being the humble one, he turned to Tallboy; and he said: because I was lost once, it doesn’t mean that I am deaf and dumb. What had happened to me, it could have happened to anyone.

I have hurt one of my legs and the herd went their way and left me behind. Hence, after the pain had been eased a little, I tried to find the flock, but I couldn’t. And, by wandering around and a bout, Mr. Binky found me. He treated my leg, and I am very grateful to him, to have done that. Truly, He is quite a kind man, more like a God sent angel. And, you, even you were quite nice to me too; just until recently, we kept on getting into nasty arguments. I wish I could know the real reason for us arguing, it can’t be just over my coat, but what then? I haven’t been doing anything wrong to you; I am just a harmless Lamb, looking for a friend. Say, even someone like you, Tallboy!

Mr. Pinky, he seems to be quite happy with me being here, why can’t you as well? For goodness sakes, can we shake hands and make up, even right now. Come on, Tallboy, please let’s be friends! If there is something about me; or if there anything that I have done; or if there something I should’ve done, which I am not aware of, please tell me, that I may put it right. Tallboy, If only you would just take a look at us, you would see that, we are pretty much the same in likeness, aren’t we?

I have four legs, you have four legs; I have two ears, two eyes, and a tail, you have the same. I won’t mention horns! I cry baaa, you cry maaa. I eat grass and drink water; you eat grass and drink water too. I am wearing my own coat, which God gave me to keeps me warm, you are wearing yours. There is nothing that I can think of, which is causing us to argue. Right at that point of Spigot’s lamentation; Tallboy was deeply touched! So much so, he turned to Spigot and said: enough! Say no more! Don’t you lament anymore!

It’s not you, it’s me. I have been jealous of your coat ever since I saw your wearing it. When I noticed how thick, white, soft, and lovely it is, comparing to mine, it made me bitter. I am selfish and foolish, may God forgives me. Come, Spigot, let’s pray about it! And so, they prayed, and God granted them favour; so that they began to live in harmony from that day.

Nonetheless, Spigot was extremely amazed, after Tallboy had mentioned God; seeing as, earlier when he had asked him the question about the coat, Spigot was fearful of answering. His feared was that He might upset Tallboy by the answer he would’ve given him. Reason, he had not known then, that Tallboy was godly. Or else, he would’ve said right away: Tallboy, God made me a sheep, and He made you a goat; and He gave us what is good for us.

The coat you’ve got I can’t wear it, and my coat you can’t wear it either. Like it or not, what God does, nothing or no one can undo, but He does what’s best for all. Consequently, on that rainy day, in that little shelter, Tallboy and Spigot, they’ve finished up best friends. See then, how through few words in prayers, unto the God who can do all things are of real necessity. According to that, whoever is in need, whoever has a problem for anything, or if anyone, is in trouble such a person needs to pray!

God listens to prayer, and He is always willing to help anyone who seeks Him. Look at the way how He had helped: Tallboy, the Goat, and Spigot, the Sheep. At all times, we must call out to him for help according to our needs. Just consider this: even though all what has been said is nothing but myth; now that you’ve read it, don’t you say you’ve never heard that there is a living God. May you all be blessed!
