opening scene:
KKK mob in full regalia attack a whorehouse in New Orleans. Captain Butler rescues the Madam, Belle Watling, and her child and a group of Black politicians. By chance, he takes them to Tara and has to leave them in the care of Scarlett O'Hara Butler.
Belle is a red-headed quadroon, and her child is an octoroon. He is the son of Captain Butler, a fact that is revealed at the end of the movie. Scarlett, however, learns of this fact almost immediately, and uses it to try to manipulate Captain Butler to return to her.
Captain Butler is a friend to Nathan Bedford Forrest, legendary former Confederate cavalry officer, and now Grand Wizard of the KKK. Captain Butler is a member, but when he learns that they have become a terrorist organization instead of a political one, he abandons the cause. In the course of the movie, he persuades Forrest to try to disband the KKK, because they have gotten out of control.
Eventually, Captain Butler comes to realize that Scarlett, despite all her flaws, is the South, and he loves her, after all. He accepts the child as his own.
That's a good outline of the story. Hollywood loves sequels, and they often make more money than the original. Margaret Mitchell is long dead. But what happens after the Civil War is more dramatic in some ways than the war itself. So I would go ahead and write the novel if one hasn't already been written.
It is sad to see those terms describing the portion of black blood again. But historical novels should never be politically correct. Young people going to movies and reading historical novels should be exposed to the terrible truth of history so they will not romanticize terrible things done by people. Unfortunately, in many ways, Gone with the Wind romanticizes the slaveowning rich Old South.
While I find the synopsis of your sequel intriguing, in my opinion, this is Margaret Mitchell's territory. She didn't write a sequel when she certainly could have.
Suspenseful and close to home, Rain of Deception 2 will leave you in Tears. Much like Part 1, this will shocking sequel will keep you on the edge of your fingertips.
