As we look at scripture we see the call that men and women have on their lives, in the Old and New Testament. Their lives were not easy. Their lives were very natural. God uses the natural desires that we have to accomplish his purposes. We can be fooled into thinking that as a non-Christian our lives didn't count or what we did didn't count. Jesus would tell us differently. God uses our past to shape our future. The mistakes we made He uses. It’s not that God wants us to make mistakes, but in Romans 8:28 it says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." As we look back to see how badly these things have affected our lives they can be a stumbling block to our future if we don't get the right attitude towards them. If we begin to see that these things have actually been the very things that God has used to move us into areas of ministry then maybe we can accept that it had to be. Joseph was thrown into a pit by his brothers to die and then into prison after being wrongly accused of molesting Potiphar’s wife. In both cases he had done nothing wrong. But what man intended for evil God used for good. So do not be concerned with how you are going to move forward in your life whether it be ministry, career or any other area just know that God is the one that promotes and moves us forward.
