Sometimes we engage in behaviors that cost us dearly.

The day my temple filled with bad energy...

I refer to bad energy as any cataclysmic force or entity that violates my space of serenity.

No, this is not an essay on the rudiments of metaphysics.

And I know that some of you will argue that it is foolish to aspire for peace during the current climate of contemporary society.

I admit that I use to be one of those people. (Sometimes I still am, as you will find later in this piece). But, I realize that bad energy often comes with a huge price tag.

No, I am not necessarily speaking in terms of money, although money is an energy that is definitely affected by bad energy.  I am moreso speaking of the essence of life quality.

Bad energy caused me to loose interest in many things that were significant to me. Outings with friends became non-existent. Tasks that required concentration such as reading, studying and writing lost flavor.

My get up and go had got up and went.

The focus of my life declined when I invited bad energy into my temple. I went into a downward spiral. Procrastination, which is always lingering in most of us, became my motivating factor.

What is ironic is that the very conditions that I most wanted to avoid in others became the conditions that had taken reign on me.

I indulged in excessive late night snacks (oh - no!), argued readily when I should have walked away and took myself and others for granted.

Bad energy is very powerful. It has more power over us than we care to admit.

I never really gave much thought to it before. I always thought that references made to bad energy were purely hocus-pocus or silly religious propaganda. But, I view it differently now. After all, the entire universe and everything within is some form of energy; thus, I would be ignorant to believe that universal forms of energy have no affect on me.

Several days ago when bad energy strutted into my temple, I should have realized that it gained power to the extent which I gave mine away.

Perhaps it would have made a difference had I remembered that bad energy also comes with a message unique to the moment.

There is something to be learned when the space of serenity is challenged. But, it is difficult to see educational aspects of bad energy when it is suddenly in your face.

Learning aside... I exploded!

A person with low self-worth and high blood alcohol content brought the bad energy. My first thought should have been to find a way to reverse the bad energy, which stood before me. In hindsight, perhaps the bad energy that I experienced was just another opportunity for me to engineer a dreadful situation into a better outcome. But I exploded!

Instead, I went with my second more primative thought and engaged back in the bad energy.

I said things to my sick-half-brother that perhaps should not have been said. Am I sorry for what I did? No I am not.

My half-brother’s bad energy was repulsive and it was not the first time he brought bad energy into my temple. However, the aftermath of the incident placed a strain on my quality of life.

I was infuriated for several days afterward. It did not take me long to discover that bad energy not only lingers, but it is also contagious. So who needs it?

Good job! I'm a firm believer in the energy that drives us, as well as karma - one must stay positive to win! Well done...
