FROM A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER’S PERSPECTIVE
In a few days, schools in my town will be filled with anxious students returning back to school. Lunch rooms, food trays, smart boards, class and homework assignments combined with summertime stories are just around the corner. I, too, will be returning to help mold those young minds.
I am a substitute or prep-teacher. I am credentialed to teach any subject from K-12. Although I enjoy teaching, and many say that I am pretty good at it, it gets increasingly challenging to give back in such an important supplementary role, while trying to stay afloat financially with real-world debts and a spiking cost of living.
It’s like riding a merry-go-round that goes 'round and 'round at an increasingly faster pace, while the financial return on my time spent on the job, with all the output and responsibilities to the kids,is falling further and further behind.
When I see homeless people, I sometimes wonder if theirs was a similar plight. You know where he or she fell upon tough times while trying to give back to society in a positive way? And then the speed of their life’s financial merry-go-round became so rapid that he or she just fell off confused and scared to the very real, but only strategically spoken reality of lack, not enough, absence, scarcity, deficiency, shortage, shortfall, insufficiency, deficit or shortage.
If You Want a Larger Piece of the Pie, You Have to Take a Bigger Bite, The Little Book on Making Big Money Right Now got my attention, at first, strictly from the title alone. I was like, what is the author doing comparing foodstuff like a pie to making money? At first I thought this tiny little book would be filled with satire about cutesy money stories and fancy clichés that have been repeated over the web.
