I just had a funny conversation with my son. Our roles have reversed a bit lately. He's becoming an adult and I'm going through my second childhood. Okay...Most people would call it a mid-life crisis. I prefer second child hood because it's more fun than having a crisis.
Having recently left my job, my son is helping me to get a job with the company he works for. I sent him a text message to let him know I got called for an interview. He calls me and says they just sent my application to the other store today. Then he says, "The mom of THE TYLER is applying?! Of course we'll interview her. This is the woman who raised this child? We'll take her too!"
He makes me laugh when he says things like that. It's true though. They love him and always make it a point to let me know every time I'm in there. I hope I can live up to his standards. He has definitely made a name for himself there.
It's really funny to see how he has matured over the last year. He just turned 17 and, boy, did my heart hurt that day. He's no longer the little boy I used to carry in my arms. Now, he's the young man who picks me up, tosses me over his shoulder and spins me around if I get too lippy with him! Of course, my dog tries to rescue me, but he's taller than both of us put together.
I am blessed to have him as my son. We have been through a lot together and I really couldn't have asked for a better kid. He doesn't party or make me worry about him too much. He's responsible, funny, kind, honest and doesn't complain if there is something I can't afford.
As I look back at all the things I've accomplished in my life, I would have to say that raising him has been my greatest challenge and my greatest reward. He's an amazing kid. He's my masterpiece.
They do grow up so quickly and before you know it, they're concerned about their parents. I can identify with what you express here, Sandy. Best wishes to you,

You are both so blessed to have each other..
Thanks Karen. By the way, I really appreciate your encouragement. It has been almost a year since I've written anything that I've shared with anyone and it helps to have someone to encourage you.
