 Calling CPS

The wrong house.

Across the street from me was a young man and woman who just had a baby girl. The two of them, both teenagers, went out looking for drugs at night, leaving the baby home alone. One night, it was cold. The little girl did not have sufficient blankets. She caught pneumonia and promptly died. The parents were never arrested or put in jail. CPS - Child Protection - was never called. My question is: What the fuck was CPS doing at my house?

I thank god my son is now 18 and they cannot fuck with me anymore. I called them and told them this. I told them many other things that they did not want to hear. "You made my life a living hell while I tried to raise my son! You with all your power fucked with me!" I said to the woman on the line. I believe I spoke for many. I was almost shaking. "You sound upset," the woman said. "What can I do that would help?" I thought about it. "I guess all you can do is apologize," I said. She replied, "I'm sorry! I apologize! I wish I could apologize to your face!" She sounded sincere. That being done, I'll just have to find another way to resolve this. I could harass them on the phone, but I don't want to deal with police. Maybe I'll call once every six months or so - or three months, as that's how often they harassed me - and see if it makes me feel better. But I doubt it. At least they can't touch me or my son. Thank god for that.

Maybe I'll harass them regularly over the phone. But I don't want to look out my windows thirty times a day or watch my back or my driveway for flashing lights.
