Once upon a time a group of 276 persons ran into a turbulent adventure. Among this group were:
- soldiers with their guns,
- prisoners in their helpless situation
- sailors managing the ships movement.
The soldiers were to kill the prisoners where the need arises, so that they will not escape. The prisoners were faced with how to regain their freedom and the sailors were faced with seeing that they reached their destination. On the high sea trouble broke out. The sea became unfriendly, the sea revolted. They encountered a tempestuous wind called Euroclydon. The soldiers were faced with death at sea or escape of the Prisoners. The prisoners were faced with death from the sea or death form the soldiers’ gun and the sailors were faced with death and failure of their business. The soldiers’ guns could not save them. The sailors’ expertise could not save the situation. What a turbulent adventure indeed. The sailors tried to escape but the soldiers on advice of one of the prisoners stopped them. What do you do in such situation? Fight for your survival or survival of the entire business? One man among the prisoners got inner strength, an answer. Tough times never last but tough people do. This man’s persistent faith (persistency), vision (insight), optimism (hope), confession (confession brings possession), and prayers (believe in the supernatural intervention) turned this turbulent adventure into a very viable venture. Though a prisoner he took control of the affairs of things by giving instructions, advice when the managerial abilities of the soldiers and sailors crumbled. This was seem in his vision, insight into solution for the problem, when he told the soldiers to stop the sailors escape by cutting the anchor rope (Acts 27: 30-32) and lightening of the ship by disposing heavy loads into the sea. (Acts. 27: 38). He inspired good cheers and hope into them when they couldn’t eat for weeks (Acts 27: 36). His persistent faith (Acts 27: 22-25).
They branded him a murderer when a beast bit him but he shook off the beast and felt no harm and again they said he is a god (Acts 28: 5-6). Managing situations in the Island of Melita he created a healing venture for the sick of the chief’s house and people (Acts 28: 8-9). He created situations that attracted honors (awards) and provisions, viable ventures indeed (Acts 28: 10). Paul’s optimism as against pessimism, positive confession as against negative confession, persistency and insistency as against depression and retardation and prayers set the ball rolling for survival.
Trouble in your business, catastrophe in your land or looming disaster in your domain can be the tonic, bitter or sweet, that you need to realign, readjust, retreat, reposition, and reassess out of this turbulent adventure into a viable triumphant venture.
Those who never face opposition stops at proposition.
A turbulent adventure may be the tonic you need to retool, reorganize, realign, reposition, remodel or relocate.
Business magnates or giants are only willing hardworking ordinary people who paid a price for the prize, who took a risk for a rise.
