Letters. Writing letters is nearly extinct. Letters have made the world go around. Wish they would make the endangered species list.

Dear Universe,
Thank you for the sun, moon, stars, little yellow chicks, apples, oceans, and each other.
I am sorry the species into whose trust you placed all of these things has lost the ‘voice’ of the universe which once was a part of us. I am sorry that because our species began inventing things, words, objects, ownership, ideas, thoughts, opinions, money, guns and time, we withdrew from all other life forms on this planet. I am sorry that these inventions drove us to thinking we are the most intelligent species among all the rest and that all the rest are simply here for us to use and throw away. It is the Great Forgetting.
Universe, I wonder what will happen to this world because of us. Do you already know? Is there anything we can do about that? If some of us try to turn the ship of fools around, will it matter? Do you already know that it will not matter, that it is too late? That it has to be a total self-destruction of the Frankenstein we made of ourselves? One that takes the whole spectrum of other species out with us?
Unsustainable. That word is fatal. Yet this world is full of beautiful souls, spirit people of kindness, in harmony with you, Universe. They are making music, art, growing flowers, writing powerful positive concepts with those very words we invented. They are taking actions of helping others, of putting evolved behavior forth into the spaces shared with not only their own species, but with all life forms. They are respectful and appreciative.
So, Universe, are there just too few of these beautiful souls to neutralize the societal acid that rogue and corrupted humans have poured on their fellow man? If I were to look for signs of possible recovery of our species to that place before the inventions that separated us from the rest of life on Earth, would I recognize those signs? Because there doesn’t seem to be any anywhere. No signs except for the beautiful souls singing, dancing, laughing and caring deeply about one another.
If only more of our species thought and acted with such clarity regarding our potential self-destructive demise. Even anonymous messages to the universe expressing consciousness, care, and wonderment at human existence lasting this long. Not giving thanks is an ignominious fault at best... a disgraceful loss of humanness at worst. Thank you for another reminder of how precious life is.
Even though the gentle, artful caring souls seem in shorter supply than in the past. I pray that changes. Perhaps when the acidic verbiage and rampant greed is under control we will rediscover the universe our creator intended us to have from the beginning. Poignant words.
You're right about letter writing. I'm reminded of the years my mother sent letters, handwritten in her beautiful cursive, often daily about what was happening in her sphere of the universe. I wrote back what I was doing, not as often, but with great description.
I like the way you wrote to an undying entity that both spawns and destroys life. Making us very small with all of our supposedly "conquering of our planet," mostly for wealth and domination of others, something we can't seem to leave behind and save our world.
