A "street" education is not what we're after. We paid attention in class. We got educated. Opinions are opinions. Everyone has an opinion. A reason to rape someone. Only a charlatan could think of that.

This essay should be in Articles, but I read it and agree with what you are writing. I grew up in a bad neighborhood where street smarts were valued for those on a pathway to prison. Like you, I stuck to the books and didn't rely on opinion to carry me without an education behind it.
