I wish that the child in the inner city and the trooper in Iraq or Afghanistan never had to have their precious blood spilled onto the ground in a world that seems to care so little about true sacrifice and honor and has lost sight of the meaning of those terms;

I wish that the single mother or caretaker for elderly parents did not have to work three jobs to barely feed and clothe their beloved;

I wish the people committed to institutions because people couldn't find the time in their busy schedules to bother returning the love that had been returned without question; or offered them as children unconditionally; could take the time to bring flowers and kiss them and tell them, "I'm sorry. I love you and I will visit more often" and actually do it;

I wish that people of all races and religions could find the common ground to look at each other and say, "I disagree with you but I will respect your opinion and not judge you harshly because of it;"

I wish music and laughter was as important as "the right degree" to earn in order to make lots of money;

I wish poetry could be sung like a story in synagogue or the Imam's prayer at sunrise and sunset by people of all nations and bear a true message of peace and love;

I wish talking to your friends and relatives or writing a letter was more important than the next episode of "American Idol;"

I wish you never had to worry about where a meal, food, or medical care would come from no matter where you live or how much you earn;

I wish there were no swollen bellies on babies and a cool room with lots of water for the people in parts of the world we have already killed off through greed and ignorance in pursuit of money;

I wish that when anyone walks down a street and sees a person who appears dirty or homeless...he or she would not look away in disgust and fear;

I wish that we could still say hello to neighbors;

But most of all, I wish we could live again and not be bound by the limits imposed by money, power, fame, and "success."

For if you can wish for what seems impossible; you can dream it; then live it - for nothing is impossible if the soul and spirit is willing to make it so. Let's try harder, shall we?
