     Do Goodbyes mean to last?
"Why do people cry when they hear the word goodbye"… so goes the famous opening lyrics from Kenny Roger's LOVE SONGS. Oftentimes this line describes the feelings of lovers when, after been together for a long time, decide to part ways to give themselves breathing rooms for each other. Ironically, the thoughts of broken heart linger only like a fresh wound. It does not follow as you continue to live on.
Several years back, I had to experience crying as I say "adios" to someone I've been with for years. Good memories of her was so awesome that until now, after settling with somebody's arms, continue to frolic.
We're a steady couple. Defying all intrigues that hounded us. We're the best of friends that protect each other's back. We're the ideal lovers that others tried but failed to emulate. One time the strong foundation that we've built was rocked to malign our faithfulness. She received a letter alleging my commitments with other women in the school. This also includes my propensity to play with women’s heart. She was told that I would never be sincere with my intentions for her. This momentarily blemished her belief in me. She distanced herself without hearing me explaining my side. But when I caught up with her one day, held her and elucidated that what she perceived was wrong, she opened up and said she was sorry for believing and deciding so fast.
Fortunately, things were ironed out as expected. She believed in me. We just embraced each other and when I kissed her intensely, I felt that this girl really belongs to me. The world was ours at that moment and we don't care others would say.
Years passed, we continue to enjoy the company of being together. We spent our free days just the two of us - planning and dreaming to start a family after college rigors are over. We're inseparable that even an all boys' nightlife was not an exemption to her. No, she wasn't jealous, she just wanted to be sure that I'm fine. I also appreciated her presence such that the feeling of belongingness was so incomparable.
On a party one night and away from home, while apparently drunk from a drinking spree with classmates, she accompanied me to my cottage. Boy this girl does not have any inhibitions. There she casually took care of me - took my shoes off, unzipped my pants and even changed my undies, after which she began rubbing my whole body with hot towel. She saw me entirely in flesh. That was when I felt how caring this girl was. She even exceeded my own mother's roles to me. Luckily, I was so tipsy that I haven't got enough strength to compliment her. She spent the whole night with me. The following day I kidded she molested me last night. A loving pinch was all I got.
Graduation time comes and I have to leave because I was ahead of her by one semester, she being a transferee. We continue to communicate but I seldom see her due to my hectic medical classes. She told me not to change since her feeling hadn't change too. When we met, time was so short that I have to beg immediately to attend to my class. She understood this as she continued to give her support.
My 20th birthday came when I was amazed of her presence in the school. She told me that she loved me so much and is willing to give up everything for me. We celebrated my day away from my parents and my colleagues. At nightcap, she gave me an unforgettable birthday bash. No queries and no qualms.

We were sitting on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the wall. It was like something coming loose and we spent that way weighing each other’s feelings, saying nothing until I found the courage to move. I was half-tumescent because I was starting a move, which I felt, a tantalizing sweet crawl toward my desire to conquer her. I sweated, my pulse raced and every motion I did was visited by visions so palpable and immediate, of her in passionate repose, that I became engrossed in space and time. But now she was a phenomenon. I was dizzy. I was disoriented. After twenty years of existence, of wandering impulse suppressed for the sake of tranquil student life, I could not believe that we were here, with our fantasy made real. I studied her naked body and the sheen of her flesh running from her belly to her thighs. I was lost and high. Here in the room beyond restraint, reserved from the diligent and wary, slowly circles of my life. When I entered her, I felt I divided the world. This goes on for more than an hour as we both lolled and meandered over one another. Unknown to me that was the last time I would see her again.
Suddenly, a twist of fate occurred. Being a college standout and with a captivating beauty that every man would have, my girl was snatched by an influential family in the university. My world began to drift away then, as I could not muster enough courage to regain her back. Totally annoying was my incapacity to wage a fight against this moron. Everything was gone. My girl, my hope, and my inspiration. I leave everything to the Lord for guidance.
After so many years of hoping to see her again, my prayers were answered. I was in the jeans section of one of the malls when she first saw me. Unknowingly, she followed me in the fitting room and asked if the one I tried fit. I told her, (I presumed it was the sales lady), that it didn't. She told me to wait as she's taking another set of sizes to the fitting door. When I said that the one I had had perfectly fit, she bragged that she still had not forgotten my size. I immediately recognized her voice, plunged the door open and took her to my lips. I simply ignored that we’re in a public place and people who noticed what I did were shocked. It was so embarrassing but I just shrugged it off. She too laughed and wrapped her arms around my buttocks as we moved away from that place.
We concluded that meeting in one of the restaurants. So many why’s and how’s were asked. She told me that she was only forced to marry the guy out of her fear and for my safety. She was threatened that if she refused, something might happen to me. But I asked her why she did not report it to the proper authorities after she surfaced. She countered that it would not make sense anymore; she was imprisoned for so long in the place she considered hell. She endured everything for my sake and her family. She was holding her tears when she confided this. Parting time has come and she planted her lips to mine. I could feel how sorry she was that we did not end up with each other. She squeezed my hand tightly and told me not to worry because she still loved and would remember me always especially that I'm forever with her. When I asked, how come? She smiled and winked, "I have with me your SON".
