"Mature love is not caught up in fantasy. It is willing to see someone for who they are and choosing to love them fully." --Thema Davis
Beloved~
It feels as if we've known each other forever, as if we were separated long ago and have been searching for one another since. When we met our souls recognized each other though our human minds did not.
We've each known others with whom we had considered sharing our lives, yet we dismissed them, because some part of ourselves knew they were not the one we were meant for.
When we finally met it was with a quiet "click," and our hearts took flight. Desire filled us, drawing us together like a wildfire on a prairie before a comforting contentment cooled us like a summer shower. Yet the coals remain, banked and ready to erupt once again in love's eternal cycle.
Now we have joined our hearts and lives before our friends and God. We are as two circles that intersect, our bodies still our own while our hearts and souls meld in a holy alliance.
It took us a lifetime of decades to find our way to each other's arms. Now we hold one another's hearts in reverance, our vows to love and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer a sacred promise never to be broken.
My love, the rest of our lives beckons and I see us meeting the future arm in arm. Though our faces are lined and our hair has grayed, we are young in our devotion. I see the years ahead filled with a lifetime of mutual adoration and the passion of those who know they are loved.
I cherish you my darling as the other half of myself and I love you with every atom of my being. Come with me on this adventure of a lifetime. As the Ancients would have said, grow old with me, the best is yet to be!
A very well written wedding vow that I believe, many will adapt.
You made me recall my marriage when both my bride and I were a mature 39 and 38 years old. She asked me to write a vow and I did, to her great satisfaction. However, her maturity did not settle in well with mine, so she left for greener pastures three years later.
