'The Happy Hour:Toronto'sMacheteMurders' is a three part discourse containing Volumes I&II, written as a descriptive and bloody narrative detailing the events of a series of bloody murders, all set within the streets of Toronto.
VolumeII
ChapterXXVIII
A sweaty and slightly tearful man is awakened by a Friday's mist. This foggy winter's morning is brighter than yesterday, but twice as gloomy and doubly dark since last his head hit the pillow; upon opening his eyes, the man is quickly filled with something resembling a feeling lost or an emotion made of fear or doubt, or possibly guilt; after opening his tired and sleepless eyes thus to awaken to an ever unwelcoming world, it is here upon the cushy confines of his pillow Mike realizes his loneliness, but only after finally recognizing the very woman whom he dearly loves yet cannot ever have.

ChapterXXIII
Again the lachrymal of his lonleliness blinds the man's eyes, for there are tears gathered now dropping slowly but surely into the pile of plastic vcr film images, which have taken Mike a lifetime to collect; banishing them all with one fell swoop of his mighty arm, the man has kicked them all out of his life in the hopes of replacing them with just one moment of peace and quiet serenity in the form of his mother's smile; so desperate he is for love that Mike, to be sure, dies a slow and painful death upon this vacuous void of existence created upon the carpet of the man's lonely life, wherein he waits to hear just one gentle word, but better still...a minute or two of loving guidance heard coming from the very mouth of his mom.

ChapterXXVI
Every second - every moment upon this wintry day of Thursday, Mike is dragged deeper down into the sickness of him. At this very instant, this single and solitary modern man is being pulled now dragged down, apparently by forces stronger than he, into a strange, unknown sort of blackness made of night, but born of wind and dream. Once more(which is so typical of the man himself), Mike has returned to his singular existence. As is his custom to suffer at this cold and lonely time of the year known as the Christmas Season, it is from this lonely location, his fortress of fortitude, the battle for the man's mind rages furiously on, though it be not in the least bit known by the individual who thinks himself merely out of sorts...
Now, of God, the man shall ask that his life be made better, brighter and more hopeful, then to cure him of all that ails this ever and most definitely aging man named Malone. With his hands joined to form this simple act of adoration and prayer, it seems as if the man is actually praying alongside his bed to something imperceptible; if it be called thus, the man's act of contrition, then Mike the penitent person he is, shall respectfully ask...in all sincerity mind you, that he be blessed or at least receive something similar to a blessing which might help him over the rough spots of his life.It is with such certain and deep sorrow that Mike asks respectfully that he live in peace and harmony with himself. It is a sad and sick man, who in sorrowful supplication, begs of this invisible someone, his God, to save, if not at least to help him this one time.

Harry D. Treadly. Arts Editor. October 2010****
In some literary circles this work containing the thoughts, memories, and memorable descriptions of a life never lived is not to be deemed an easy read, but a pleasurable and most satisfying one nonetheless. The words contained within the novel named 'The Happy Hour' are confounding to those who are easily confused, but are simply stated and easily understood to those readers, with patience and compassion, with wit and a true sense of irrational reason, who will certainly understand all that is written. Poe, King and Faulker and, yes, even Charles Dickins are all within these painted pages, it seems, to bear witness to a most unusual and descriptive prosaic language. Well done! What a joy to read! Give us more, please, Mr. Taylor!
