Ned Kelly Kangaroos 

ol' Kelly roo gang...bushranger kangas 

I was travelling up to the north coast 

And our train got stopped by a mob of 'roos! 

big mob.....maybe 200-300 of these grey kangaroos 

anyway.... our train started slowing down more and more 

then ssssssss……rolls to stop

minutes tick by….more minutes tick by

just waiting......waiting

I look outside….thick bushland…

Decide to get up, wander up to doorway and see what I can see from up there

I look out...

big mob of bloody roos all over the rail line and bunched about both 

sides down along the rail line

both sides of track....roos everywhere

10 more minutes of train hoots n whistles.....roo's just stand there 

ground

20 minutes go by.........

45 minutes......

then train edges forward....roo's don't shift....train stops again

minute or two stationary

edges forward.....roo's bunch even more fellas on the track

train inches forward.....and a 

big bunch of roos, but not all , jump clear... 

and regather 25 yards further up track....looking defiant  I might

add... 

you could hear the train staff sigh and curse under there

 breath....he he

 train whistle blares, train nudges forward again.....

 remaining roos jump clear and form up behind the pack 

 glarin back stood defiant on the track

 then the same thing happens

 roo's stand their ground.....train inches forward

 then they jump clear and reform a few more yards up railway track

 .....train inches forward

 then they jump clear and reform a few more yards up railway track

 this goes on for almost hour and a half.....

 finally

 there's a bridge.....up ahead past a long bend in the track

 those mad bugga roo's defend every inch of that track up to that 

 bridge crossing, a few hundred metres at least…..

 all the way to it,

 and all the time I’m hanging out the door  watchin this.....laughin 

 my head off

 anyway…

 finally the 'roos are runnin out of space....in two's n three's they

 gradually, reluctantly cede their ground

 until….finally

 there stood one big buck

 there's just one big ol' gnarly looking roo

 big nick outta one ear.....all scarred up around his face and upper

 body

 ol' battle scarred bugga

 he ain't movin for no big noisy old train!

 and he just stood there.....one mean ol' growly eye fixed on the train

 ready for a fight!

 the other....watchin the bridge

 slowly the train tries nudgin him out the way

 he stands up tall

 at this moment I’m breathless.......

 imagine the heart this old roo has

 he just standing up to this humongous train

 this my turf!,, my bloody track

 you gotta ask ol' roo if you wanna pass!

 gradually the train inches him back

 I’m thinkin......

 wow.....what’s ol' roo gonna do?

 maybe that train push him over the side....it's a long drop

 but that roo just stand there

 stood his ground

 the train stopped

 there we were

 eyeball to eyeball ( spotlight)

 neither willin to give another inch......

 then

 like a long sigh.....

 the roo slowly stands at ease

 he turns his back.....

 hops down the track

 right on the edge of the rail bridge

 he stands up tall again

 grunts a few times

 then he hops away

 and the whole big mob  moves as one

 down along both sides of train....

 I could see it in their eyes....

 " ahh that was fun.....lets go wait for the next train to come "
