Do We Ever Really Lose A Love?
To those who have lost a love I’m sure there have been times that the words, wish I had never met you were spoken. This usually is brought on by anger, grief of the lost love or realizing that if you had never met them you would not be experiencing so much pain at the moment. But true love awakens so much inside of us and comes along so seldom that I really believe even if you lose a love for whatever reason, you are so much better for the experience.
It shows for one thing that you have the ability to love and be loved, that the part of you that allows for love is at least still alive. And oh, those high feelings that you feel can come out of no where and from nothing else. I don’t believe you can get them from any drug, a new house, car, clothes winning the lottery, obtaining a huge inheritance, a job promotion or anything else. None of these things mentioned can:
-
Make you feel tingly
-
Captivate your soul
-
Make you feel complete
-
Give a magic feeling
-
Transport you to another planet
-
Make rockets explode
-
Hold you and kiss you
-
Arrest your mind and spirit
-
Leave you begging for more and more
-
Give you that lover’s glow
-
Bring so much joy
-
Touch you
And when the love affair is over and you know it is gone, those old feelings can be recalled in a nana second. You can experience such sweet sensations every time you allow those spirits to visit.
It is almost as though the memories themselves are greater than the actual experience. When you are experiencing those memories the first time around, I just don’t believe you though you enjoy them that you spend time savoring them the way you do when the love has ended.
At least the memories can’t leave you unless through some action of yours, you banish them or give them death sentence or you have damaged that part of the brain.
I used to wonder some years ago, how a person would hold so close to their hearts memories of someone they loved so much that they had lost through death. I think I know how that is possible now.
The memories will be carried for the rest of their days. Memories of deep, deep love that they’ve shared with someone.
I believe we all desire to be really loved this way. If we are not in love, we are searching for it or hoping that this is the day when this person will magically appear in our lives. It makes life so much more livable to have that special someone.
Losing a love can be devastating whether it is through death or some other way, the results are still the same. You will always have those memories to visit with you unless you’ve had shock treatment or a lobotomy or if you’ve allowed your mind to be so infiltrated with anger or evil that these memories are put to death.
My personal sense tells me if you really loved someone, nothing can change that. You will always love them regardless of death or any other circumstance. No words have been written that adequately explain real love. When you know it, you know it and you know that your very soul belongs to him or her.
So if someone has died that you love, you go on loving them. You continue to relive those precious memories that you had together and it is as if every little thing becomes etched on your brain that you’ve done together. The grief, I believe that you experience here, does not really lessen. You learn to adapt in a different way, but when those times do roll around and you think about that person, you are transported back to those times when the two of you were one. Those times can be so special. When our souls revisit that lost love, it can be as intense as if it has just happened. So no, I don’t think we ever really lose a love. Not even those that we’ve loved in platonic ways. They are there always waiting for us.

Dear Aubrey,
In the birth of each of us we feel love then. It is warm and comforting and we latch onto the feeling of euphoria that we forget later while we mature. When we are attracted to another in a sensual manner and if the dejavu tweeks those emotions we are visited again by the comfort, glee and floating dizziness brought by the drugged sense we felt first at birth. We are addicted to the euphoric penninsuela that love brings with it and we strive to keep it but, alas, the affect leaves us and we quests for it again. Love is an addicion that is the best medicine of it's kind. We mortals are easy prey for love and there are times when we mistake love just because we like the feeling more than we honor the passion and obligation that comes with it.
Aubrey, you know that I always admire your pens and I do understand love more and more from your generous pens.
Thank you my dear friend.
Susan
