The ‘Glenfallen Witches Novels’ are fantasy—but they are romantic, urban and suspenseful too. My characters live in an imaginary world—a fictional 19th century New England county called ‘Glenfallen.’ And although the stories do adhere to historical accuracy, the characters operate in a magical world that parallels the mundane.

Every major city has magical inhabitants and a legislative ‘Circle’ of witches. The ‘Boston Circle’ is America’s oldest coven, and home to the Omnibus Magica—the largest magical library and research institution in North America. Washing DC has the ‘Circle Republica,’ with the solemn mission to protect and defend the President of the United States from malefic entities, and the ‘New York Circle’ boasts the top team of ‘Demonologists’ north of the Mason-Dixon, (much to the annoyance of the ‘Boston Circle.’)

There is definitely a smack of ‘Urban Fantasy’ to the novels in spite of the historical setting—especially with tongue-in-cheek humor. One of the freedoms of working with ‘magic’ is the ability to get away with ‘modern’ concepts and sensibilities even in an antiquated setting. Glenfallen’s witches are able to communicate telepathically. However, young the witches have great difficulty ‘holding the line’ on ‘long distance calls.’

But at the heart of each of the Glenfallen Witches Novels is a love story. Each novel introduces a new romantically involved pair that are engaged in suspenseful situations or solving mysteries. Most of the action takes place in Glenfallen on Cape Thicket where five ancient magical families were transplanted from England in the 17th century. And all of the novels are tied together with a dynamic, reoccurring, supporting characters.
