Is Amazon's new policy regarding 'adult books' really just an excuse to discriminate against GLBT books?
It seems that Amazon, arguably one of the biggest booksellers on planet earth, has begun operating a policy that effectively discriminates against GLBT literature. It's stripping rankings from what it calls 'Adult' books. It seems that many GLBT themed books, fiction and non-fiction fall into this category and are having their rankings 'culled,' even if they’re of a non-explicit nature. However, books with explicit content of a heterosexual nature are seemingly not affected.
One of my own books ‘Moving On’ has suddenly lost its sales ranking on both Amazon and Amazon.co.uk
Furthermore, Amazon seems to have taken on the role of preacher and is advertising what might be seen as homophobic books on the pages of GLBT works. For example on the same page that lists my book 'Moving On' is listed a book called "Can Homosexulality Be Healed?' This book is a thinly veiled homophobic treatise and to my mind it's inappropriate to list it on the same page as a fictional gay romance story. Amazon seem to be suggesting that people who buy a gay romance novel are so guilt ridden that they require a book that presumably offers a homosexual cure!!!
