Ah yes responsibility! Grown-ups dodge it's barbed wire boundaries and sweeping ramifications, as well as children, make no mistake about it!

Personal Responsibility

Yes, even I on occasions find myself wordless! Not for long granted, yet yes, sometimes.
It remains not difficult however to become inspired, by merely taking a 360 degree turn in time! Oh yes, that'll wake one up pronto! And start the juices flowing for sure!

Shall we examine ourselves in the years of our lord 2003? I bet most are saying no! Why I wonder? For indeed reflection is our brightest bridge to a sunnier tomorrow right? Do we even believe a brighter tomorrow exists I wonder? If we look deep within us, in an honest and probing gander and peek.

I wonder indeed how many among us have merely settled for an ok existence? I wonder how many could truly claim exalted happiness as their banner this day? We become complacent concerning our society, community and family, we seem to suffer from an affliction I shall refer to as "helpless"' this day in time. Are we indeed I wonder, or does merely the cry of such a howl, lessen and diminish the responsibility we play as actors upon this stage we inherited called life?

Ah yes responsibility! Grown-ups dodge it's barbed wire boundaries and sweeping ramifications, as well as children, make no mistake about it! We don't even like to hear about personal responsibility anymore! Yet we still remain quite finished in our ability to point to another, who does indeed, bear blame in his or her life! Yes, the thumb points back to us every we time we point to another however, as indeed it rightly should!

Yes, most all I think, race to an opportunity to ignore personal responsibility, whether it remains of large or small consequence, but of course we all know, that little strands of yarn, and long strands of yarn, when rolled into a ball togeather, are indistinguishable, yet when combined, do indeed create a big ball to be sure!

I'll share something with you today, often this is why our children have little to no respect for us! Ouch! Yes, like my Daddy always said "The truth hurts" Well, come-on lets examine it shall we?

We instruct them to go to church Sunday morning, whilst we kick back and drink beer and watch the game! We share concerning the attributes of honesty, while we are seen being dishonest in many of our dealings, both small and large, does fudging on our taxes ring a bell? Ouch again! I think we just lost about a hundred readers on that note!
We teach our youngsters respect for others, while we curse our own wife, we instruct them in the art of accepting given authority, as we curse our boss daily, as well as the cop who sites us as well!

Responsibility hmm, no takers on this one huh? We teach our children the importance of admitting when we are wrong, yet how seldom indeed, do they see us basking in the wilting artform? We teach our youngsters with pompous authority to live within your means, to spend not beyond your capability to earn, as we unfold our long list of glittering plastic each time our wallet or purse appears.

Oh sure you can curse me, but hell I remain only the messenger of reason, and we all both know and teach, our children do we not? That you dont kill the messenger!

Teaching therefore, remains the art of attraction, rather than promotion....
Peace,
Rodney Evan Bohen
