I first heard about THE ENCOUNTER from MySpace comments Latin Temptress posted last summer. I was interested in learning more about the novel and the author. I heard her on the Latina Explosion episode of The Writer's Life Chat, hosted by author Kisha Green. When I finally met her at the Harlem Book Fair last July, I knew that her book was going to be something else. I don't know what it was but I could tell Latin Temptress was a quiet storm with a spitfire imagination. When Sexy suggested I read it because it was so hot and good, I obeyed and began reading. Oooh child, things are gonna get freakier, I thought as I read about the heroine Bella Alexander, who was accidently shot and sent into a coma. She woke up as an amnesiac, igniting my lifelong love for everything soap opera. She was married to the manipulative David Alexander while having a clandestine affair with spy Jonathan Greene. I could not put the novel down for three days. Latin really surprised me with her steamy novel while looking like both Audrey Landers (Afton Cooper from "Dallas") and Nicole Richie Madden. I could not believe when author and Wagfest founder Kerry Wagner made a special appearance in a shocking role. Latin made me want David to get his comeuppance for putting Bella and Jonathan through hell and she did it with lots of chutzpah. Latin really put a twist to the novel by writing Bella as a Puerto Rican woman and David and Jonathan as African-American men, which was refreshing and different from what many people are used to. THE ENCOUNTER is a flaming page-turner which sizzles through your mind, body and soul. It is an excellent first-novel which you need to read with your glass of lemonade or ice tea on a hot sunny day. Latin, you put your feet in it, chica!
