Writing is a very powerful tool. It is very healing and therapeutic.
I prefer to write than sit in front of the tv. I love writing because it is very therapeutic. Granted, one must be honest and allow life's experiences to influence their writing. Unfortunately, not all of our experiences are positive. I chose to write because it is very healing for me. Something magical happens when I sit down and put into words all of the ups and downs of my personal experiences. Once it is down on paper, I feel like the cocoon who have turned into the beautiful butterfly.
People do not intentionally subject themselves to bad or good experiences so that they can use them in their writing. Life just happens; however one can certainly make good use of these situations in a literary way so others can learn and get inspired.
My newly published children's picture book is about true events of my childhood experiences. I was seven years old , but what happened that early morning while walking on the beach was so profound that I never forgot it. The event is engraved in my heart and soul, now I am able to share that situation with an audience that speaks English, French and Spanish. WHAT AN INSPIRATION!!!!
THIS IS SO TRUE, NICOLE. OFTEN PEOPLE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS...BUT IF ONE IS NOT GOING TO WRITE TRUTH...THEN THEY CANNOT WRITE. IT IS INDEED A 'HEALING' FOR THE WRITER AND FOR THE READER. A GOOD WRITE...ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS, LOVE,

So true, Nicole; as is everything else in this fine article. My most "loved" poems are those that I write from my soul. In everyday life, I very often "act" or pretend. Thank you for sharing this. Love and blessings,
Neurosis, a mental illness, affects everyone to a greater or lesser extent, yet most know little or nothing about it. This book reveals all, including incidence, signs and symptoms, cause, treatment and prevention, in lay language.
