Is it a series of slap stick routines or a string of words, there are so many permutations that the understanding of what makes people laugh, suddenly becomes more complex.

In the days of Rowen and Martins Laugh-in it was a mass attack of verbal comments, often not at all funny if read on script, yet apply the secret goo = IT AINT WHAT YOU SAY ITS THE WAY THAT YOU SAY IT or IT AINT WHAT YOU DO ITS THE WAY THAT YOU DO IT.

For me that secret goo is what must be the thing that causes the laughter.

But then again maybe there is another goo. It is one that needs nothing more than to hear laughter, which is what the tv program makers latched onto and saturated comedy with, CANNED LAUGHTER. Sadly that destroyed most comedy tv shows, whoever it was sticking the laughter in must have been so bored that they put it in every gap of speach.

The goo of real laughter, that is different, when someone for no apparant reason just breaks down into the giggles, that becomes as infecteous as watching someone yawn. Hence the success of tv blooper programs.

Laughter must be one of the most treasured of human responses, it is able to blow away nerves, hate, create love closeness.
