I read in an article someplace, whereby an incredible 37% of the United States workforce, was going to rely on winning the lotto, to fund their retirement!  Amazing!  And, all those losers, are the same parasites, that will take the taxpayer dollar later in life, to support them in retirement, when they don't win the lotto! 

attitude: (definition); manner, disposition; feeling; position with regard to a person or thing; tendancy or orientation of the mind;

Typical resume of the negative; jealous;resentful and the arrogant person...all rolled up in one;

jealous; (definition); resentment against a rival; a person enjoying success;

resentment; (definition); the feeling of displeasure at some act remark or person, etc., reguarding as causing injury or insult;

arrogant; (definition); making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbaearingly assuming;

negative; (definition); expressing refusing to do something;

As the reader may have guessed, I don't like being around negative and unambitious people, who yawn their lives away, and don't have much of anything to show for it, etc.  Many of these people live from one beer to another, and party their lives away!

Change doesn't come easy for some people...or change doesn't come at all.  Case in point.  I come from a family of ten kids...and when we were kids growing up, my mother, who never worked outside the home...used to wash the floors, by getting down on her knees with a sponge and bucket of soapy water and wash the floors. 

I remember about 30 years later, I stopped by my parents house to drop off some papers, and there was my mother, down on her knees, with a sponge and a bucket of water, washing the kitchen floor!  I was appalled at what I saw!  "Mother," I screamed..."they have invented the mop to use...and I'll buy you one, to get you off your knees!" 

"NO," she said happily...as she continued to wash the floor on her knees!  "This is the way I've always done it, and I don't need a mop."  Some people never change their old habits, etc.

Internet:  With the coming of the Internet, and a few computing skills, a person can go out on the Internet and learn to his or her content. I've gone out on the Internet and refreshed my mind on things like the Civil War and the Love Canal disaster, etc.  I gone out on the Internet and re-learned some of the things I forgot in school. 

When I was 53 years of age, I completed three computer courses, which took me about 18 months to complete and about $150.00 at the time.  It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself, because the computer revolution was just around the corner, and I wanted something called a website more than anything. 

Writing:  About a decade earlier, and when I was about 43 years of age, I completed three writing courses, to try to improve my writing skills.  Website building is publishing, and if I wanted to showcase my work to the world, I would have to be as good as I could be.  Like the computer courses, the writing courses, took me about 18 months to complete at a cost of about $200.00 at the time.  There's no free lunch...if you want to be good at something...you're going to have to pay in time and money...or both!

Denied education: My wife had a secretary for over ten years, and when the computer revolution started, the secretary wanted to take some computer courses, to try to imporve her skills and to make more money.  She was denied by her husband, who was a flucky janitor in a school system someplace!  It's amazing to me...how can someone deny education to somebody else, to improve their skills?  Just another jealous, resentful person at work here! 

New technology:  If a person is a learner and a doer, he or she has to deal with all the new technology associated with computers, if he or she is on a computer.  When I bought my second computer, there was no floppy disk or floppy disk drive.  You could buy an attachment for it, or buy the new technology...called a flash drive.  At the time, I knew nothing about it, so I went to my computer instructor at the computer lab, and he told me what to buy.  At this time, I had been on a computer about seven years. 

The memory stick (flash drive) is small and costs about $12,00 and holds about 1,000 times more information of the floppy disk.  So, I had to learn to transfer all my files from the floppy disks to the new flash drive, and my instructor showed me how.  After I transfered all 15 floppy disks information, I now had only one flash drive...and all the information was in their own folders.  It was much easier for me now, and all the old floppy disks were thrown away.  I like this new flash drive better, but I had to learn another new technological item all over again.  People who are not learners and doers will not stay in the computer business long...exactly for that reason. 

e-book:  I've wanted my own book for a long time, and about a year ago, that I didn't want the paper version and all that goes with it...the rejection slips; the agents and publishers.  I wanted to do it all myself...and write an ebook.  But, I don't know much about an e-book.  If I want an ebook, I just have to go back to the books and learn what's it all about, and may cost a little, but that's okay.  The technology today is getting better and better, and maybe I've just come around at the right time.

Social Security:  I bring my mother back into the picture, because I think she is the worst of the learners and doers that I have ever seen.  When she was eligible for Social Security, I wasnted to make it as easy for her in her older years.  I wanted to teach her basic math on the calculater; how to automatic deposit her Social Security check and learn how to write checks, so she didn't have to go out in the traffic.  She could stay at home and do all this. 

She rejected all this and she decided to do it all her way.  I don't know if she was not a learner and a doer; difiant; pig-headed or all three.  My mother lived to be 85 years old, and she was proabably still washing the floors on her hands and knees!  Some people are reluctant to change for the better...and I guess the old saying is right...'you can't teach an old dog new tricks.'
