In 2010, the American people have their hands full, because of all the corruption in all levels of government...and the corruption in corporate America and on Wall Street as well. American's should act right they see wrongdoing by anyone!

I think that many American's don't act on an issue, until something awful happens to them, or to a member of their family, etc. It could be an auto accident; an illness; getting poisioned; a health or safety issue...AND then they get involved.
I have to plead guilty myself, for not getting involved in the past, and that has been wrong on my part. But, after I moved into my present neighborhood, I read in the newspaper about a jet-fuel spill, located just a mile from where I live! There have been three articles in the newspaper about the jet-fuel spill over the summer of 2010. The first appeared in June, 2010; the second article in July, 2010; and the third article in the newspaper appeared in August, 2010.
I learned that the spill (or chemical dump) and the fight that goes with it, between the state of New Mexico and the federal government (Air Force) has been going on for over ten years, with no end in sight! All this, is threatening to contaminate the ground water if not cleaned up! What could the Air Force have done, that created a mess, that would cost the taxpayer's over 200 million to clean up and threaten the neighborhoods in the immediate area?
I like to tell people, that I live in a sleepy one-horse town of Albuquerque, New Mexico, with a population of over 500,000...including the horse. And, I like to compare the jet-fuel spill (chemical dump) to the Love Canal chemical disaster of the 1970's, when President Carter had to get involved! I think the Kirtland AFB jet-fuel spill could be worse because there are many more residents involved.
Of the four quandrants in Albuquerque, I think the southeast heights is the mostly densly populated because there are three bases located there; Kirtland A.F.B.; Sandia National Labs; Manzano Weapons Storage; along with a community college of 24,000 students and two hospitals and the airport, etc. A disaster here, would make the Love Canal disaster look like a picnic outing! Hundreds of thousands of residents would be affected here.

"Not in my backyard," seems to be the calling...AFTER the damage is done! The first article that I saw in the newspaper appeared in June, 2010; the second article in July, 2010; and the third article in August, 2010. If I would have known about this chemical dump (just a mile from where I live), I would have never moved into this part of town!

But, I would feel awful about myself, if I didn't do anything about it...that is...the possible contamination of the ground water by the federal government, which is a disgrace! I could have easily packed my bags, and moved to another part of town...forget it!
I decided to stay, and to become an activist, and do what I could to help the neighborhoods, to fight the federal government to win this matter, etc. I gathered up the three newspaper articles, and added five pages...mostly comparing the jet-fuel spill to the Love Canal disaster of the 1970's, and I was ready to go with my mailings.
I picked about 25 of the top officials in the state of New Mexico; the governor; 7 federal judges; the two Senators; the city/state environment department; the Mayor of Albuquerque; the US Representative (Dist. 1); the Commander of Kirtland Air Force Base; and the list went on.
It cost me about over $100.00 for the mailings certifications; postage; copies, etc. But, it was all worth it, and I feel now, like I'm doing something for the neighborhood.
On September 11, 2010, I received a letter from one of the federal judges, informing me that he had sent my material I sent him, to the U.S. Attorney. Good news, and there has been a little progress soon.
And, for the second round of my fight against the federal government, I made copies of the letter from the judge, and sent out twelve more letters (packages) to the following watch-dog organizations;
National Whistle-Blowers Center; OMB Watch; The Sierra Club; Government Accountibility Project; Citizens For Responsibility in Washington; Common Cause; the Audubon Society; Reuters News; American Civil Liberties Union; National Resources Defense Council;
For the first time in history, New Mexico will have a female governor after the election of 2010, and mailed both candidates a package (raising awareness) of my information on the jet-fuel chemical dump. I think women are less-corrupt than men, so this is a good thing for the state of New Mexico! All we have to do now, is to empty of all the corrupt men in the Congress...and replace them with women...an all-woman U.S. Congress! Scary, eh? That's like having 33 women drivers at the Indy 500 race! Scary, eh?
It doesn't take a rocket scientist, to know that a Congress without corruption...is like a woman without shopping!

From: Government Accountibility.com; (Whistle-blower Protections Equal Safer , Federal Workers say) According to a new survey (2010) by the union of Concerned Scientists; employees of the Food and Drug Administration; and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), overwhelmingly believe that if, they, their co-workers, and food industry employees enjoyed solid whistle-blowing protection...food consumed in America would be safer to eat. The UCS survey was given to thousands of scientists and meat inspectors at the FDA and USDA...of whom over 1,700 suvey respondents. Specifically, my a margin of 70% to 2% said that "establishing a stronger whistle-blowing protection for private or public employees who report problems affecting the food supply" would improve rather than worsen food safety.
Whether the reader writes well or does not communicates well...and if it's a problem with a corporation or the government...it's important to get involved and take back your government, and do it NOW! The Red, White and Blue allows you to do this...and whatever you do...don't look the other way!
