Domestic violence; child/senior abuse, cheating, road rage, adultery, jealousy, hate, racism, bigotry, thieves, corrupt, divorce, deceit, liars, miss-trust, gossip, bullying, put-down, lust, drunkards, drug dealers, prositiutes, winos, gangs...other than that...the United States is a very nice place to live, etc. Why would anyone want to have a child in all this?
I read a national poll about five years ago, which dealth with having kids...and the poll-takers had kids at the time. The question was asked, "If you had to do it over again...would you have kids?" At the time, I thought the answer would be about 25% of the people would NOT have kids, if they had it to do over again! I was surprised, when the answer was a whopping 72% of the people who answered the question would NOT have kids if they had to do it over again!
Millions of people out there, should have not had any children, for they are the worst parents imaginable. My ex-wife of 19 years, was a social worker, and worked for the state in the child-abuse/senior abuse division. Over the years, I've heard countless stories about how parents and families abuse their children. It's not a pretty picture and is a big black-eye for the country.
My ex. had two kids from a previous marriage, ages 2 and 4 years old at the time, and so I know what it is like to raise kids. No thanks...I've seen enough of kids...who are so selfish when they're young, and than it gets worse, as they grow up, etc. Children are one of the reasons why the divorce rate is still so high, in my view...and when you include selfishness on all sides...the father, the mother and the kids...you have a toxic mix. How people can have kids in this greedy society is beyond me.
I not only helped to raise two kids for 19 years, but I come from a family of ten kids...five boys and five girls. I was the third from the oldest, so we olders kids had to help with the younger kids, etc. I was 12 years old when my first brother was born.
Amazingly, when kids are 8-10 years old today, they're into drugs and having sex...they're defiant...know everything, mannerless...and don't forget selfish!
In the year 2011, I am 66 years young and headed for the grave, etc. But, many men in their 60's and 70's have children. Not me! I am single at this time, and, if I meet a woman, I hope she is not of the child-bearing age, because I don't want a child. In my view...MARRIAGE SUCKS! So, why would I want to get married again...and why would I want to have a child?
Now that I have one foot in the grave...all my life, I've wanted a few things when my life is over...no regrets; and never say, 'I woulda; coulda; shoulda, etc. And, that's where I am right now...I have no regrest...and I don't want to say, "I coulda; woulda; shoulda.
When we all are young, we all dream of our later years in retirement, and the 'golden years.' Well, there are no golden years for me. Because of SIX job layoffs during a decade, I found myself homeless at the age of 60 and standing in a soup line for over two months. In 2005, I was in the hospital for over three months, and when discharged, I headed for a homeless shelter, and soup line, etc.
With the greed in this country, and the job losses, I don't know how anyone can have a baby today. My father worked for General Electric for over thirty years...GONE! Other companies that left town include; AOL the call center employed over 1,000 people...GONE; Motorola; Digital; Phillips Semi-Conducters; Trend; Plastech; Siemens; Sparton Southwest; Martin-Marietta and the list goes on...all GONE!
I think my father's generation was the last to celebrate the 'golden years' From now on, including myself, it is going to be tough on everyone...young and old alike. I might make it through with Social Secuity and Medicare, etc., but it will be the young people who will suffer in the future. If things continue to go like it is, many young people won't even get Social Security...for the age will be raised to high, that they will never live that long.
The worthless Congress can't do what they are paid to do, and that is to keep jobs in this country, and keep companies from moving out of the country. As long as this keeps happening, the young people are at risk. What good does it do you to get an education, if you can't get a job? I've not a fatalist or a crusader for doomes-day...but, I'm a realist. And, I don't see good things happening in this country in the future. How can anyone afford to have a baby today?
I wouldn't want to be a young person today. Take a look at the country debt...14 trillion dollars. Nobody in this country knows what that amounts to, and what we can do to get out. All great societies of the past have gone under for one reason or another...and make no mistake about it...the United States can go under as well.
When Wendy and I were together, we had two dogs over the years. One died of old age, and the other was poisoned. I got attached to both of them, and I had to bury both of them. If I had children, there would be heart-break as well.
Many people in the past and today, have kids for all the wrong reasons. I don't regret not having kids, because of all the negative things (health issues) that have happened to me over the years, I could not give them a good life. This is not selfishness on my part, as the reader will remember, I helped to raise two boys for over 19 years.
And, now at the age of 66, and for the rest of my life...I hope I never have any regrets and never have to say..'I woulda; coulda; shoulda;
