I'd rather watch a good high-school game, than to give one minute to these self-serving greedsters and millionaire cry-babies in professional sports of any kind. 

As a young person, I was an athelete, and I played baseball, basketball and football.  I grew up, with the intention of playing or coaching sports.  That all changed a little later in life, as the Age of Greed came upon us in the early 1980's. 

I think it all started, with the Pittsburg Panthers winning the National Championship, with a running back named Tony Dorsette.  The following year, the team almost won another National Championship, but they lost to Penn State. 

Jackie Sherill was the head coach at the time, and he was lured to coach at Texas A&M, by wealthy Texans at a pay of $1.7 million dollars over five years.  This raised eyebrows all over the country, for I had never seen or heard of anyone getting this kind of money before!  Incredible...and this is when the Age of Greed began, in my view. 

Jackie Sherill coached a few years at Texas A&M, and then went on to coach at Mississippi State, in the tough SEC conference.  I don't remember Mississippi State doing much of anything in the SEC, where Alabama and LSU dominate.  Jackie Sherill finished his coaching career with a mediocre 75-75 record...nothing to write home about. 

In my view, Jackie Sherill did not win a National Championship because of the coaching skills of Jackie Sherill...he won a National Championship because he just happened to have a running back by the name of Tony Dorsette, who went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys.  Tony Dorsette excelled everywhere he went.  This caliber of player, comes around about every century...and the University of Pittsburg just happened to have the services of Tony Dorsette. 

This is about the time, I started losing interest in sports...it was becoming a big money sport...in every sport...including tennis; golf; baseball; basketball; racing; bicycling and you name it.  Swimming, winter sports...it seemed like everyone was in on the greed...

Cheating:  A couple of years ago, the New England team were caught cheating against the New York Jets, and the head coach Bill (Belecheat) was fined $500,000 dollars and the owner of the Patriots (Krafty) was fined $1 million dollars by the League.  This is nothing but a slap on the hand to these guys, is a sea of millionaires. 

Cheating in sports is done, primarily, by using performance enhancing drugs...and there's no telling how many people out there in sports are cheating

Ticket prices:  Of the 32 teams in the NFL, the New England Patriots lead the way in greed, with a single ticket costing $132.00.  The Cleveland Browns are at the bottom of the greed pile, with a ticket cost of a paltry $60.00.  Heck, I wouldn't pay $60 to see God! 

Loyalty...what's that?; 
There's no such thing as loyalty in the NFL or anyplace else, as far as I'm concerned.  As soon as the contract is up, players jump to another team to make more money.  The last of the loyal players that I can remember were Jerry Rice of the San Fransico 49ers and Doug Sanders of the Detroit Lions. 

I haven't watched a Major League baseball game in over 25 years; I haven't watched an NBA (National Basketball Association) game in over 25 years.  And, now, with the players strike in 2011/12, I given up on the NFL...I just don't want to be a part of this greed sweeping the country. 

I was...WAS a San Diego Chargers fan for over 30 years, and when Norv Turner was hired as head coach, I could see this was the end of the NFL for me.  The Chargers were so bad a few years ago, that Eli Manning, the quarterback of the Giants, wouldn't play for them, and was traded to New York for Phillip Rivers.  Norv Turner is nothing but 'Mr. Mediocre" himself, with the Redskins...the Raiders before that, and now with the Chargers.  Forget it! 

GREED is everywhere!  The basketball coach of the New Mexico makes over $500,000 a year, plus perks and is not worth it;  the President of the University of New Mexico makes over $600, 000 per year, and is not worth it.  This is peanuts, compared to other university Presidents around the country...GREED continues to show its ugly face!  There are 25 Vice-Presidents at the University of New Mexico, and the Regents and the Legislature just look the other way...none of them are worth it.  Who pays for all this greed?  The students, parents and taxpayers...that's who! 

When I was a kid growing up in the 1960's, there were only about ten bowl games...Rose; Cotton; Sugar; Orange and so forth.  In 2012, there are about 35 bowl games...most or all with corporate sponsors...and all with the intention of making money.  I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the New Mexico Bowl, is ranked at the bottom of the bowl games. 

Some of these teams in bowl games, don't even have a winning record...and they come in at 6-6; or 7-7.  I wouldn't pay the ticket price to see some of these losers...it's all in the interest of making money...GREED! 

The New Mexico Bowl, is not even owned by the state of New Mexico or the University of New Mexico...it's owned by ESPN! 

The match-up in this years New Mexico Bowl; Temple vs. Wyoming;  WOW!  Even Bill Cosby was in the stands, as he is a graduate of Temple.  (yawn, here) 

Back to the NFL...

In the 40 year history of the Super Bowl, it's been over-rated and just plain boring.  I've probably watched about half of them...yawning all the time, mostly because of the match-ups. 

Sadly, America is becoming a country of cheaters...not only in sports...but, academically, financially, etc., as well...and I choose not to be part of it...

New England has probably made more appearances in the Super Bowl, than any other team.  And, millions of other people think, that they may have cheated their way to the other appeaences as well, as they were caught cheating (red handed) a couple of years ago!  So, why would I want to waste three hours of my time, watching these cheaters from New England?  I have better things to do...
