My reason for writing this article is this: I wrote a poem, which talked about shame and certain of my readers asked to know a little more about it. In other words, readers seemed unsure about what shame is. Well, I will get to that very soon, but first let me explain the reason why I wrote the poem, in the first place! Seeing as, I had grown up experiencing right from wrong; given the choice I’d choose to do what’s right. I would find it rather shameful to deliberately do what’s wrong. Only by doing and saying the right things will usually prevent embarrassment to anyone. Hence I am quite heedful about that. Even though, I know that not saying or doing the right thing at times, it can accidentally happen to anybody! Nonetheless, people, especially those who many others are looking at in the role of leadership, they should try their best not to do or say those things, which are wrong or misleading.
Yet it’s plain to see that they are mostly the ones who will not to do what’s right or even speak the truth. And so, they are living their lives without any feeling of embarrassment….
That's why, I have assumed that perhaps, they would be much happier to kill and move shame out the way. Simply to prevent embarrassment, when they don’t speak the truth, giving way to say later they’ve misspoken. A lie is falsehood, aiming to mislead and should always be judged accordingly! However, regardless of what others are doing, I will plea to keep shame alive. Reason is, to uphold the world’s moral integrity. Shame serves as an obstacle touching those who are willing to live by dishonesty, which is not good! If we would allow shame to prevail, we would soon see a change in many people’s lifestyle. Shame allows people to look at themselves and others with more respect.
Now, here is my explanation of shame regarding what my readers’ have requested. Shame can be a restraint to one’s reputation. Shame can let anyone down! It can also place a damper upon one’s spirit too. Besides, it has the power to change one’s countenance. Shame has also been written in many places of the Holy Bible. You will be sure to find it in many of the Psalms. King David, who was the main Psalmist, a man after God’s own heart, one who placed trust and confidence solely in his God, knew that he would’ve been ashamed to be let down by God. In that case, he was consistently asking God not to put him to shame. This same David was a man whom anyone could say brags about his God (like we all should do) and so, when he sought God’s help, if he was not delivered from his crisis it would’ve been shameful to him.
That’s why he kept on asking God not to put him to shame. He didn’t want his enemies to turn to him and say, where your helper is or where is your God whom you’ve been bragging about! The truth is, even God talks about shame too, when He sees our displeasing behaviour. Psalm 4:2 It reads, “O ye sons of men, how long will he turn my glory into shame?” The Lord’s creation is all for His glory, even us! That’s why we should always live, with enough integrity, to allow the Lord to be proud of us. Then He would sure take pleasure to look at us and then, attend to all our needs. Shame can come in many other ways, as well! For example, by the words that we speak, by the things that we do and even by the way we dress ourselves, at times!
It is good to be cautious of shame or else we could put our entire family to shame.
Bear in mind, a person might have no shame and so, become careless of what he/she gets up to, but others in the family will suffer the shame, which is committed. We should try not to do the things that are shameful; as there are always some others who will undergo the effects of it. Shame is to be avoided if possible. It is written shame caused Adam and Eve to go into hiding. Furthermore it made Peter weep and Judas hanged himself.

“Zephaniah 3:5 The just Lord is in the midst thereof; He will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgments to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.” “Hosea 4:7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore I will change their glory into shame.” Shame is with most of us to stay, it serves to help us hold our heads up high! It’s hard to over look shame, it shows up in the face and it changes the countenance. “Lengthy reading can cause restlessness!” Keep on trusting in Christ Jesus! May you all be happy and blessed!
