Mr. President your hypocrisy is showing
By Robert Amoroso
Not since Bill Clinton’s infamous definition of what “is”…”is”, have I witnessed such brazen manipulation of the English language, coming out of this White House.
To suggest there’s a growing credibility problem, by this President is to acknowledge the obvious. It began with candidate Obama’s controversial 20-year relationship with his mentor and pastor the Rev. Wright, and continued to Obama’s candidly degrading remarks about a segment of the populace, and continued as President Obama (under the threat of an immediate financial collapse) orchestrated the most massive spending bill in the history of this (or any) country, right up to the present, as he signed what he termed an “imperfect bill…behind closed doors.
It seems that the most “transparent” administration (by their own definition), has once again demonstrated that their deeds don’t match their words. Last week President Obama had trouble signing the $410 billion dollar bill in front of the media. Instead President Obama decried the bill in front of the cameras, as “imperfect”, then later in the day went into a back room away from the glare of the media spot light and signed the bill anyway…way to go Mr. O.
For those that still believe in the “tooth fairy” I suspect that this slight-of-hand maneuver will go unnoticed, and worse yet barely a mention within the mainstream media. However contrast this “transparent” hoax with President Bush, and one could almost guarantee front page coverage and glaring headline, of the in-your-face hypocrisy of this administration.
My friends on the left will argue (and rightly so), that this pork laden bill was originally introduced by the Bush Administration, and that President Obama was merely signing off on “old business”…and that’s the rub.
How can one promote themselves as an agent of “change” and sign off on “old business” knowing full well by their own definition, it’s an “imperfect bill”?
Of course this was just (to use an old cliché), the tip of the iceberg on the hypocrisy scale, it does indeed get better. It seems that the moment Obama stopped his continued verbal assault of Wall Street, and kept his mouth shut for the better part of a week…the market began to “miraculously improve”.
And it now seems that the economy by Obama’s assessment isn’t as bad as he had originally announced to the nation and world. Astoundingly, in less then 2-weeks our economy went from being the “worst since the Great Depression” to “gee it’s not so bad”.
What gives Mr. O?
What gives, is a very crafty and slick politician doing what politicians do best, selling the American people a bill-of-goods. If you recall my article of several weeks ago in which Chief- of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel, brazenly outlined the administration’s agenda and openly declared “You Never Want a Serious Crises to go to Waste”.
The operative words here are “serious” and “waste”. President Obama (like President Reagan) inherited an economic crisis, however unlike President Reagan, who addressed the actual crises immediately. President Obama saw an opportunity to push through his new world order of social engineering, by using the current economic situation as a guise to confiscate trillions of tax payer dollars and earmarking them for new social programs, that under normal circumstances would have been debated by lawmakers on Capital Hill, and perhaps put to referendums, for the American people to decide.
President Obama cleverly turned a manageable situation into a full blown economic crisis, by not immediately following the tried and true principles of past economic recoveries, he purposely engaged in a continues drum roll of negative forecasts, using verbiage such as “catastrophic” and verbally assaulting the banking and business communities, guaranteeing a downward spiraling effect, thus driving the economy further into crisis.
Now here’s where it gets tricky, a good slight-of-hand trick always leaves you wondering, exactly, what you did and did not see. However, thanks in part to the arrogance of this administration and Emanuel’s boastful remarks, its clear that the financial crises was in part manufactured by this administration, to push through this massive spending orgy, and redefine the tenor and tone of this government.
Obviously, we all want our economy to improve, however the lingering question for me is how can the leader of the free world, with all the information at his disposal, could somehow reverse himself in a matter of weeks, do a 360 degree turn-around and now declare that the economy isn’t as bad as he first thought…what changed?
My question then is “how did he derive at that conclusion, based on what new information”? Of course, the mainstream media will never ask those questions, however we should. We should demand from our elected officials an accounting as to why we went into debt to the tune of hundreds of trillions of dollars.
If I might take a moment and use Mr. O’s favorite tag line…”let me be clear”, I have no problem in a president attempting to change the tenor and core principles of our society, as long as its obvious in its intent, and open for dialog and of course debated in the halls of Congress in an open and public forum. That’s what a free and open society is all about.
However when policy is made under the cover of a crisis, how long then before another leader emerges on the scene to chip away further at our freedoms, until its to late, and the only thing standing between us and a benevolent dictator, is the end of a gun?
As I’ve stated in previous articles this isn’t a battle between left and right, liberal or conservative…we’re the ones being hammered in this economy not the millionaire politicians who’ve retired to Texas or now occupy the White House or fly around the world in state-of-art aircraft, or avoid paying taxes with little or no penalty, and as long as politicians can divide a nation with their own partisan agenda, nothing will ever change.
President Obama is systemic of a political process that’s out-of-control. To my progressive friends and colleagues on the left, who continually decry my analogies. I simply suggest to them if one president (Bush) can author a $410 billion dollar spending bill and then another president (Obama) “reluctantly” signs it…where’s the change?
Aren’t we tired of being handled and lied too?
We need to enact our core principles once again, “class warfare” is wrong, weather it’s promoted from the right or left…its wrong! We need to be civil to our leaders once again; however we must hold them accountable for what they say and do and it must be based on common sense, and not blind ideology.
Thank you for your response, if you’re looking for facts simply take a look at history, both JFK and Reagan came into the presidency with major economic issues, both reduced tax rates, and payroll taxes to stimulate the economy and were very successful. Massive spending of this size, when we’re in an economic crisis doesn’t stimulate the economy…our grand children will be paying for this, for years to come
As for Obama’s handling of the crisis, I thought that this might be of additional interest; this was a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC Poll.
U.S. President Barack Obama and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner received failing grades for their efforts to revive the economy from participants in the latest Wall Street Journal forecasting survey
The economists' assessment stands in stark contrast with Mr. Obama's popularity with the public, with a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC poll giving him a 60% approval rating. A majority of the 49 economists polled said they were dissatisfied with the administration's economic policies.
On average, they gave the president a grade of 59 out of 100, and although there was a broad range of marks, 42% of respondents rated Mr. Obama below 60. Mr. Geithner received an average grade of 51. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke scored better, with an average 71.
As for you comments revering to race and addressed to me…I suggest when you make those comments that you’re extremely careful to whom you address those comments to. I suggest you read MY ARTICLE again…very slowly.
Regards,
Amo
Your article is forcefully written but just where are the facts?
America is not alone here, the whole world is. Listening to Gordon Brown and the Chinese, Australian, and European leaders reflect a
BASIS for the present administration's economic directions. I suppose it is too early to make conclusions, and unfair to mislead by incomplete and unfounded statements. Being black (45%) or whatever (55%) is out of context and color is not the issue, bias never contributes anything positive. Is racism still the score?
