In 2015 I was honored at the United Nations Headquarters as USA Humanitarian Ambassador for my writing and speaking about the urgent need to simplify our lifestyles.
I was deeply saddened when I discovered that there was little listening to my pleas.
Now it seems that the United Nations is recognizing the urgecy of needed reform for our very survival both as a species and the planet itself.

I am a meat eater. But I have curtailed my consumption of meat and will continue to do so. If necessary, I will stop eating meat at all. My partner came from Vietnam where meat and many other sources of protein like fish were scarce during communist rule. She consumes very little meat and even is allergic to some seafood. Her primary source of protein is tofu. I find the way she makes tofu is quite tasty. I can get my protein from beans and cheese if I have to. But I don't think I'll ever be a vegan. I am encouraged by research that I read about creating artificial meat that tastes and has consistency and nutrition similar to meat. That may be a way to make it less painful for meat eaters to change.
